Joao Souza and qualifier Federico Delbonis are through to the last eight at the VTR Open after taking out former champions Thomaz Bellucci and Fernando Gonzalez on Thursday.

Joao Souza advanced to his second quarterfinal in Chila, having ousted four-time champion Fernando Gonzalez in straight sets. The Brazilian converted five of eight break points during the one-hour, 47-minute match. Gonzalez, who trailed by a double-break at 1-4 in the opening set, ended the match with eight of 29 second-service points won.
Souza is slated to face either 2nd seed Juan Ignacio Chela or Horacio Zeballos in the quarterfinals.
(Q) Federico Delbonis def. (3) Thomaz Bellucci 6-2, 7-5
Qualifier Federico Delbonis is through to the quarterfinals following his straight-set upset of 2010 champion Thomaz Bellucci early Thursday. The Argentine held nine of 10 service games through to a 6-2, 7-5 victory in 92 minutes. Bellucci completed the match with six double faults and 46% of his first serves made.
Delbonis will take on 7th seed Carlos Berlocq for a place in the semifinals. The Argentine defeated qualifier Diego Junquiera in the round of 16, 6-1, 6-0.
