Novak Djokovic routines Carlos Berlocq in straight sets on Thursday at the U.S. Open. Djokovic is through to the third round along with Ivo Karlovic, a four-set winner over Richard Gasquet.
(1) Novak Djokovic d. Carlos Berlocq 6-0, 6-0, 6-2
Djokovic's remarkable 2011 campaign continued in dominant fashion on Thursday night at the U.S. Open. The world No. 1 raced through his second-round matchup with Berlocq in a mere one hour and 30 minutes. He fired 31 winners to just 15 unforced errors while setting up a showdown against Nikolay Davydenko.
Berlocq, more of a clay-court threat, did not even win a single game throughout the entirety of sets one and two. The 74th-ranked Argentine finally got on the scoreboard in the third game of the third, and he did it with a rare break of the Djokovic serve. In fact, Berlocq earned successive breaks, but he never held serve a single time so Djokovic quickly restored order to the proceedings. New York's No. 1 seed earned a match point with a winning between-the-legs shot and he capitalized on his second chance.
Ivo Karlovic d. (13) Richard Gasquet 6-4, 6-2, 2-6, 7-6(4)
This was not a typical Karlovic match, but Karlovic got through it nonetheless and pulled off the upset over Gasquet after two hours and 37 minutes of play. The relatively surprising encounter featured seven service breaks; four by Karlovic and three by Gasquet. Despite failing to dominate on serve like he normally does, Karlovic blasted 29 aces on his way to a third-round meeting with Alexandr Dolgopolov.
The 6'10'' Croat took control right from the start, seizing one break in the first set and two in the second. He faced only one break point during that span and saved it, so Karlovic pocketed a two-set advantage without much trouble. Gasquet fought back to roll through the third, but Karlovic's advantage on serve proved to the difference in a fourth-set tiebreaker. The world No. 94 took care of it seven points to four, wrapping up his impressive effort with 61 winners.

First two wins bring double pleasure to Novak's fans: unmatched supremacy on court and constant whine from other fans who sense that their favorite player has no chances against Novak
