Seeds fall in St. Petersburg

Top seed Gilles Simon is out of the St. Petersburg Open, after falling to compatriot Adrian Mannarino in three sets. Third seed Alexandr Dolgopolov had his run cut short as well, having lost his opener to wildcard Dudi Sela.

World No. 86 Adrian Mannarino is through to the second round, having upset top-seeded countryman Gilles Simon late Monday. After splitting the first two sets, Mannarino led 4-2 in the decider. The 23-year-old completed the two-hour, 11-minute contest with four of 6 break points converted.
He will take on either wildcard Ernests Gulbis or Lukas Rosol for a place in the quarterfinal.
(WC) Dudi Sela def. (3) Alexandr Dolgopolov 6-2, 6-2
Wildard Dudi Sela reached round two by virtue of his straight-set upset of Alexandr Dolgopolov. The 26-year-old needed just 60 minutes to defeat the third seed, 6-2, 6-2. Sela held eight consecutive service games, en route to his 8th Tour-level victory of the season.
He is slated to meet Jeremy Chardy or Dusan Lajovic in the next round.
