St. Petersburg - Cilic, Bogomolov through to round of 16

Fourth seed Marin Cilic made a successful start at the St. Petersburg Open, having downed qualifier Sergei Bubka in straight sets. The Croatian is joined in round two by Alex Bogomolov, who defeated Igor Kunitsyn.

World No. 22 Marin Cilic won his opener in St. Petersburg with a straight-set success against qualifier Sergei Bubka. The 23-year-old saved five of six break points, through to a 6-4, 7-6(1) victory in an hour and 51 minutes. Cilic completed the effort with six aces and two of eight break points converted.
He will face Somdev Devvarman in the next round. Devvarman dismissed veteran Karol Beck in the first round, 6-2, 6-3.
(7) Alex Bogomolov def. Igor Kunitsyn 6-3, 6-1
Seventh seed Alex Bogomolov made quick work of Igor Kunitsyn in the first round, having downed the Russian in just 66 minutes. The American held eight consecutive service games en route to a 6-3, 6-1 victory. Bogomolov ended the match with four service breaks and 26 of 36 first-service points won.
He is slated to meet either Philipp Kohlschreiber or Carlos Berlocq in for a spot in the quarterfinals.
