Defending champion Viktor Troicki is through to the quarterfinal after taking out Pere Riba in straight sets. Three-time former champion Nikolay Davydenko also advanced, having defeated wildcard Teymuraz Gabashvili.

World No. 16 Viktor Troicki made a successful start to his title defense, having downed opponent Pere Riba in straight sets. The 25-year-old tallied 11 aces through to a 6-4, 6-4 victory in one hour and 23 minutes. Troicki completed the effort with 10 consecutive service games held.
He will take on Alex Bogomolov for a place in the semifinals. The American defeated Mikhail Kukushkin in the round of 16, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4.
(4) Nikolay Davydenko def. (WC) Teymuraz Gabashvili 7-5, 6-2
Former champion Nikolay Davydenko reached the quarterfinal by virtue of his straight-set win against wildcard Teymuraz Gabashvili. The Russian veteran secured five of seven break points en route to a 7-5, 6-2 victory in 91 minutes. Gabashvili had trouble with his second serve, with just 33% of the points captured.
Davydenko is slated to battle Michael Berrer in the next round. The German upset 8th seed Andreas Seppi in the second round, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.
