Second seed Viktor Troicki survived a challenge in the quarterfinals, having held on to oust 5th seed Alex Bogomolov Jr. The 25-year-old struck 23 aces en route to a three-set victory in three hours and 38 minutes.
"Mentally and physically it was very tough and I am exhausted now," said Troicki. "I am in the semifinals now and I hope I will be ready. (Jeremy) Chardy is very talented and struggled a little bit this season but now is back in good form. I like playing here, it is almost like playing at home."
Chardy dismissed Philipp Kohlschreiber in the quarterfinals, 6-4, 6-3.
(4) Nikolay Davydenko def. (Q) Michael Berrer
Three-time former Kremlin Cup champion Nikolay Davydenko made the semifinals after taking out qualifier Michael Berrer. The veteran Russian converted four of five break points, through to a 6-3, 6-2 win in one hour and 21 minutes. Berrer completed the effort with just four of 17 second-service points captured.
"I played well from the baseline but I am struggling with my serve," Davydenko explained. "I can't serve at full speed but I have been able to win my first two matches in straight sets. I wasn't able to play in Beijing and Shanghai so I want to do well in the last few tournaments because I have points to defend."
He will take on top seed Janko Tipsarevic for a spot in the final. Tipsarevic downed 6th seed Dmitry Tursunov in the quarterfinal, 6-4, 6-2.
