Moscow - Tipsarevic cruises, Dolgopolov falls

Top seed Janko Tipsarevic made a strong start to his Kremlin Cup campaign, having rallied to oust Igor Kunitsyn in three sets. Qualifier Jeremy Chardy is also through to the quarterfinals after upsetting Alexandr Dolgopolov.

World No. 14 Janko Tipsarevic reached the quarterfinals following his three-set victory over Igor Kunitsyn. The 27-year-old tallied eight aces and converted six of nine break points, through to a 6-7(5), 6-1, 6-0 win in an hour and 55 minutes. Tipsarevic completed the effort with 84% of his first-service points captured.
"I am very motivated to do well in these last few tournaments in order to try and finish in the Top 10 and maybe qualify for London," he said. "I was sick in the last two weeks and had not played a match for nine days. The first match at a tournament is always tough so I am happy I could finish very strong."
Tipsarevic will take on fellow seed Dmitry Tursunov in the quarterfinals. The Russian defeated Julien Benneteau in the round of 16, 6-3, 7-6(1).

World No. 133 Jeremy Chardy advanced to the final eight, having upset 3rd seed Alexandr Dolgopolov on Thursday. The 24-year-old Frenchman won 39 of 45 first-service points en route to a 6-3, 7-6(6) victory in 85 minutes.
Chardy is slated to meet Philipp Kohlschreiber for a place in the semifinals. The German downed 7th seed Gilles Muller in the second round, 7-6(4), 6-3.
