Tournament seed Andreas Seppi is through to the second round in Moscow, having ousted former champion Igor Andreev. The Italian is joined by wildcard Teymuraz Gabashvili, who defeated Karol Beck.

Eighth seed Andreas Seppi survived a challenging first round, having rallied to dismiss 2005 champion Igor Andreev in three sets. The 27-year-old Italian tallied two service breaks and six aces en route to a 2-6, 6-3, 7-6(4) victory in two hours and five minutes.
He will take on either Sergiy Stakhovsky or qualifier Michael Berrer in the next round.
(WC) Teymuraz Gabashvili def. Karol Beck 6-2, 6-4
Wildcard Teymuraz Gabashvili recorded his 10th tour-level win of the season with a straight-set victory over Karol Beck. The Russian saved eight of nine break points, through to a 6-2, 6-4 success in one hour and 33 minutes of play. Beck struggled with his second serve, winning just 43% of the points.
Gabashvili is scheduled to face fourth seed Nikolay Davydenko for a place in the quarterfinals.
