Tournament seeds Alex Bogomolov and Gilles Muller are through to the second round in Moscow, having recorded wins over respective opponents Dusan Lajovic and Konstantin Kravchuk.

Fifth seed Alex Bogomolov survived a tough opening round, having rallied to upended qualifier Dusan Lajovic in three sets. The 28-year-old American secured four of 10 break points en route to a 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 victory in an hour and 58 minutes.
He is slated to meet Mikhail Kukushkin for a place in the quarterfinals. Kukushkin defeated Lukas Rosol in the opening round, 7-6(5), 7-5.
(7) Gilles Muller def. (Q) Konstantin Kravchuk 7-6(5), 6-4
World No. 50 Gilles Muller is through to the round of 16 following his straight-set victory over qualifier Konstantin Kravchuk. The veteran struck 19 aces through to a 7-6(5), 6-4 success in 90 minutes of play. Muller completed the effort with 11 of 11 service games held.
He will take on Philipp Kohlschreiber in the next round. The German dismissed Carlos Berlocq in the first round, 7-5, 6-3.
