World No. 1 Novak Djokovic continued his bid for the Rogers Cup title, as semifinal opponent Jo-Wilfried Tsonga retired in the second set. The top seed will face 6th seed Mardy Fish for the championship on Sunday.
World No. 1 Novak Djokovic is through to the Rogers Cup final, having played an abbreviated match against 13th seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. The 24-year-old had built a 6-4, 3-0 advantage, when the Frenchman called it a day with a right arm injury.
Djokovic used solid returning to convert set point at 5-4. He raced out to a 3-0 lead in the second set, when Tsonga was unable to continue. The World No. 1 completed the effort with 30 of 39 service points captured.
He will take on 6th seed Mardy Fish for the championship title. The veteran American defeated Janko Tipsarevic in the semifinal, 6-3, 6-4.
