Mardy Fish is through to his fourth career Masters final after dismissing Janko Tipsarevic in straight sets on Saturday in Montreal. Fish will go up against Novak Djokovic for the title.
Another summer, another hot streak for Mardy Fish.
Fish surged into the Top 10 of the world rankings last year thanks to a brilliant U.S. Open Series, and he is staying in the Top 10--if not climbing--due to more stellar play on the hard courts. It continued on Saturday in Montreal, where Fish beat Janko Tipsarevic 6-3, 6-4 in the semifinals of the Rogers Cup.
The eighth-ranked American jumped out to fast start, breaking his opponent at love in the second game of the match. That was all Fish would need, as he faced no break points in the opening set--although he did survive deuce games at both 2-0 and 3-1.
Tipsarevic seemed to be bowing out fast when he dropped serve with a flurry of errors to begin the second. The 24th-ranked Serb, however, battle back and seized his first break of the afternoon at 1-2--clinching it at love. But the success was short-lived, and Tipsarevic soon donated serve again at 3-3. This time Fish made no mistake with the lead in hand, as the No. 6 seed quickly closed out the proceedings with pair of routine holds.
"Overall, obviously (I am) extremely pleased with the way I played," said Fish, who recorded six aces against just one double-fault. "It felt like I had the upper hand for most of the match. Minus that just small hiccup there (in the second set), I think I played very well."
"I was nervous at some points," admitted Tipsarevic, playing in his first career Masters semifinal. "I felt I had a good fighting spirit. But the problem was that the ball was just not flying from my racquet. On the other hand, you had Fish, who I feel played a great game from start to finish. But it's really simple; in order to beat Fish, I needed to play good. I didn't play good today."

Why do you want him to win a title? And is he really that lovable to call him Tipsy?
It goes a long way to say I always want this guy to lose but I never been fond of his appearance and gamesmanship. Bur maybe I'm missing something about Tipsarevic.

At least he deserves to be in top 20... Hopefully Tipsy will win ATP title... Does anyone know who is best ranked player without title?
