Fifth seed Gael Monfils reached the round of 16, after dismissing qualifier Alex Bogomolov in straight sets. John Isner advanced to the second round, having upended Marcos Baghdatis through two days of play.

World No. 7 Gael Monfils made a successful start to the week, having downed American Alex Bogomolov in straight sets. The 24-year-old Frenchman led 2-0 in the first set, the secured an insurance break to 4-1. Monfils went on to take a critical 4-2 edge in the tie-break before closing the match.
He is slated to face either 12th seed Viktor Troicki or John Isner for a place in the quarterfinal.

World No. 28 John Isner is through to the second round, following his straight-set victory over Marcos Baghdatis. After rain halted play early in set two, the American came back to break at 3-3. Isner completed the match with 8 aces and 10 consecutive games held through 73 minutes.
He will take on 12th seed Viktor Troicki in the next round. Troicki rallied to defeat qualifier Michael Yani in the first round, 2-6, 6-3, 6-1.
