World No. 1 Novak Djokovic survived a difficult third-round match against 16th seed Alexandr Dolgopolov, having rallied to secure a victory in three sets. The top seed moves on to face either Thomaz Bellucci or Robin Haase in the quarterfinal.

Congrats to Novak - given the circumstances it was a wonderful win for him

My deepest sympathy for the passing of the beloved grandpa. I can only imagine (can I?) how hard it was to go out there, put a brave face and collect yourself enough to win a match against a very tricky opponent. Bravo Nole!

mental state was a huge factor in this match

i said before the match that dolgo will be a tough customer for nole and i believe dolgo will alwas trouble nole but beating nole is awfully tough for dolgo. The tragedy that happened to the djokovic family cant be ignored though, shocks like these can make a HUGE difference. His concentration might have been affected big time and sustaining passion could have been tough too. Nole is mentally very strong I must say, impressive stuff. hope to see him in the final

Well, I didn't see it, but this appeared to be a close one, and give credit where it's due, Nole is like a brick wall, it's supremely hard to get anything past him. Dolgopolov is fun to watch when his game is clicking. It's good to see that he pushed the No. 1 player in the world, in 3 tough sets, despite the unfortunate circumstances of the Djokovic family.

Obviously his grandfather meant the world to him, to have the emotional reaction he did before, during, and after the match. In that regard, despite my dislike for the family, my condolences go out to them. Losing someone close to you is always a painful thing to experience. It's very unfortunate this happened right when Novak was in the midst of an important tournament. I hope that both he and his family will be able to get through this tough time, with the care and support of one another.
