Jo-Wilfried Tsonga rallied from a set down to defeat countryman Gilles Simon at the Sony Ericsson Open on Tuesday.
Tenth-seeded Tsonga needed more than two hours and 10 minutes to dismiss fellow Frenchman Simon in the round of 16. The two competitors both began the match in fine fashion, neither losing serve in the first set. Tsonga fought off a set point at 5-6, taking the first set to a tiebreak. The world No. 11 struck three aces in the breaker, but fell behind two additional set points at 4-6, courtesy of a costly double-fault. Simon won the set when Tsonga, who struck a shocking 27 unforced errors in the set, double-faulted a third time.
Tsonga regrouped in the second set, jumping out to a 3-1 lead behind an errant forehand from Simon. The tenth seed came through a marathon service game to reach 5-2 late in the set. Tsonga, never facing a break point in set two, continued to showcase his strong serving. He leveled the match on a terrific serve out wide on set point.
Simon failed to keep his unforced error count in check, giving Tsonga two break chances at 1-1 in set three. Tsonga, firing groundstrokes from both wings, snagged a service break to lead 2-1. The No. 10 seed saved three break points in the following game, clocking an ace to consolidate the break for 3-1. A faltering Simon surrendered an insurance break on a double-fault, falling behind 4-1. Tsonga held serve comfortably to close the third set 6-2. Tsonga finished the match with nine aces, bringing his tournament tally to 25.
Tsonga faces Novak Djokovic in the quarterfinals. Djokovic posted a straight-set victory over 21st seed Tomas Berdych in the round of 16.

I think Nole may pull it off this time too. But you're right Orion, it could be that I want it so bad!

Like I said earlier, Simon only can win against top players when he forces a lot of unforced errors like in the first set. Luckily, Tsonga righted the ship in the end and sent Mr. Defence (yawnnnn!) packing.

do i want to try out my educated guess hatred for Novak? I honestly don't know what you mean.
If you are asking for a prediction, I am picking Tsonga in straight sets.
