Defending champion Andy Murray suffered an early defeat in London, having succumbed to France’s Nicolas Mahut in three sets. Four-time former champion Andy Roddick is also out after losing to Edouard Roger-Vasselin.

    Nicolas Mahut def. (1) Andy Murray 6-3, 6-7(4), 7-6(1)

World No. 65 Nicolas Mahut is through to the quarterfinals after holding on to upset world No. 4 Andy Murray. The veteran tallied 13 aces and three service breaks through to a three-sets victory in two hours and 36 minutes. Murray completed the match with just 17 of 37 second-service points captured.

Mahut moves on to face Grigor Dimitrov in the quarterfinals. The Bulgarian ousted 14th seed Gilles Muller in the second round.

    Edouard Roger-Vasselin def. (7) Andy Roddick 6-4, 4-6, 7-5

France's Edouard Roger-Vasselin made the final eight by virtue of his three-sets defeat of four-time London champion Andy Roddick. The world No. 67 withstood 22 aces from the American, who was unable to capitalize on four of 5 break chances. Roger-Vasselin ended the second-round match with 13 aces and 78% of his first-service points won.

"I thought I had a look there in the third set, and honestly I felt like I was going to take that thing once I turned it. Didn't work out that way," Roddick said. "(Roger-Vasselin) played great. I didn't hit the ball too badly. I've certainly played a lot worse this year so far."

Roger-Vasselin is slated to meet 10th seed David Nalbandian or Ruben Bemelmans in the next round.
