Juan Martin Del Potro remains the hottest player in tennis as he destroys Tommy Haas in the Legg Mason Classic semifinals. He will go for a fourth straight title on Sunday.
Can anyone stop Juan Martin Del Potro?
Nobody has been able to do it in Del Potro's last four tournaments and Tommy Haas certainly could not do it in the semifinals of Washington, D.C.'s Legg Mason Classic on Saturday. Del Potro crushed Haas 6-2, 6-1 in one hour and 22 minutes. He will meet either Viktor Troicki or Igor Kunitsyn in the final, where a win would give the No. 2 seed a fourth straight title.
Del Potro, who won a third consecutive trophy by defeating Andy Roddick last week in Los Angeles, never let Haas in this match. The 6'6'' Argentine broke his opponent twice in the first set and saved the only break point he faced en route to cruising 6-2.
The second set was the same story. Del Potro won 14 of 15 first-serve points, never faced a break point, and broke Haas three times, the last of which clinched his 18th match victory in-a-row.
Haas simply never had an answer for Del Potro. “It is difficult to play him because he has a lot of reach,” the German said. “Also for his size he moves very well in the court. He is a very dangerous player. I can't really say what are his weaknesses.”
At this point, who can?
