  • Djokovic tested by Andujar in fourth round surprise

    3/15/12 2:49 AM | Cheryl Murray
Pablo Andujar put in an impressive middle set against world No. 1 Novak Djokovic before losing in three.

For the first set, this round of sixteen match looked as if it were going to be a walk in the park for Novak Djokovic. The Serb skipped through the opening set without dropping a single game. When Andujar won his first game in the second set, the crowd cheered to see him finally on the scoreboard.

They soon had an unlikely match on their hands. Andujar kept pace with Djokovic, hitting with him from the back of the court and even earning a few break points, though Djokovic was able to stave them off.

Andujar played a good tiebreaker, taking advantage of a few errors from the Djokovic racket to level the match at a set a piece.

The score of the third set makes it appear that Djokovic was in control, but Andujar had 4 chances to get the first break of the set; he was once again unable to convert. Djokovic seized his opportunity instead and got an insurance break to serve out the match for 6-2.
