Third seed Nicolas Almagro is through to the last match in Hamburg, after knocking out 8th-seeded fellow Spaniard Fernando Verdasco. Almagro will take on fifth seed Gilles Simon for the title on Sunday.
World No. 14 Nicolas Almagro advanced to the Hamburg final, following a solid semifinal-round victory against compatriot Fernando Verdasco. The 25-year-old held nine of 9 service games, en route to a 6-4, 6-1 success in an hour and 24 minutes.
Almagro, looking to win his fourth title of the season, ended the match with 7 aces and three of 5 break point opportunities converted.
He will square off against Gilles Simon for the championship title. The Frenchman rallied to down 4th seed Mikhail Youzhny in the semifinal, 3-6, 6-3, 6-1.
