    Marin Cilic and Andreas Seppi look to make the round of 16, as they square off against respective opponents Bastian Knittel and Radek Stepanek. The players are slated to complete their second-round matches on Wednesday.

    (12) Marin Cilic vs. (Q) Bastian Knittel

    World No. 32 Marin Cilic makes his return to competition following a first-round loss to compatriot Ivan Ljubicic at Wimbledon. The 22-year-old is 23-13 for the year, aided by a runner-up finish in Marseille. He is set to compete in his first Hamburg tournament since 2008.

    World No. 187 Bastian Knittel defeated Ivan Dodig in the opening round, 6-4, 6-3. The 27-year-old German qualifier is bidding for his second Tour-level win this season.

    Prediction: Cilic in straight sets.

    (13) Andreas Seppi vs. Radek Stepanek

    Thirteenth seed Andreas Seppi trails Radek Stepanek 0-2 lifetime, entering into the second round. Wednesday marks their second match on clay.

    Seppi looks to regroup after a first-round defeat to Marcel Granollers in Stuttgart. The 27-year-old Italian is twice a semifinalist in Hamburg, having made the final four in 2008 and 2010.

    World No. 57 Radek Stepanek took out hometown wildcard Andreas Beck in the first round, 7-5, 7-6(2). The 32-year-old Czech veteran reached the 2006 Hamburg final, where he fell to Tommy Robredo in three sets.

    Prediction: Stepanek in three sets.
