Top seed Roger Federer advanced to his 5th Halle final in 6 years, and extends his winning streak on grass to 58 matches.
Federer looked determined and focused from the first ball and played very nice tennis in that whole first set. Kiefer never really stood a chance. Nicolas, however, was dreadful in that first set. Federer was jumping on every second serve he saw, and most were pretty low quality from the German. The first set was over in a flash.
Kiefer upped his play in the second set and had many more chances in this set to break, but Federer simply played the bigger points better than Kiefer. Federer saved 4 break points in one game before turning around and breaking Kiefer in the next one. A little bit of controverst as well, as during one rally, Kiefer was changing directions and fell. Knowing the point was lost, he attempted to yell out to distract Federer. Roger made the shot, but that didn't stop Carlos Bernardes from giving a warning to Kiefer.
Federer's win streak is now 58 matches on grass, and he will go for his 5th Halle title on Sunday.

Did you know that... Thomas Johansson did not have to face any of the top-10 players when he won the Australian Open in 2002.
