    World No. 6 David Ferrer advanced to the final eight at the French Open, having cruised through his match against fellow Spaniard Marcel Granollers. The veteran is through to face either Andy Murray or Richard Gasquet in the next round.

    Sixth seed David Ferrer is through to the French Open quarterfinal by virtue of his straight-set ousting of compatriot Marcel Granollers. The 30-year-old collected 41 winners and six service breaks through to a 6-3, 6-2, 6-0 victory in 111 minutes of play.

    "I don't know if (I played) my best tennis, it is difficult to say that," Ferrer said. "But, of course, I am playing very well this tournament. I try do my best in every match. I (have) worked hard to come back into (the) Top 10."

    Ferrer ended the round of 16 match with 40 of 50 first-service points won.

    He will take on either world No. 4 Andy Murray or world No. 20 Richard Gasquet in the quarterfinals.
