Novak Djokovic took another step closer to his tenth title of the year with a straight-set victory over Radek Stepanek.
This match did not feature Novak Djokovic at his best. In fact, the Serb spent some time looking irritated and out of sorts, even somewhat unhappy with how he was playing. Still, he came through comfortably based almost entirely on the strength of his return game.
Djokovic’s serve actually let him down somewhat. Opponent Radek Stepanek was able to snag a trio of service breaks, but the Czech didn’t serve well enough to make those 3 breaks count. Djokovic secured a whopping 6 breaks for the match.
The win sends Djokovic in the quarterfinals, where he joins every other top 8 seed in the draw except for David Ferrer, who lost to No. 10 seed Gilles Simon.
