Tournament seed Richard Gasquet advanced to the third round, following his straight-set victory over Kevin Anderson. The Frenchman is joined in the round of 16 by Fernando Verdasco, who took out veteran Michael Llodra.

Twelfth seed Richard Gasquet continued his effort in Cincinnati, having ousted Kevin Anderson on Wednesday. The 25-year-old Frenchman held 10 of 11 service games through an hour and 40 minutes of competition. Anderson tallied 12 aces, but was unable to win more than 14 of 29 second-service points.
Gasquet will face 7th seed Mardy Fish for a spot in the quarterfinal. The American crushed Nikolay Davydenko in the second round, 6-0, 6-2.
Fernando Verdasco def. Michael Llodra 6-4, 6-4
World No. 21 Fernando Verdasco made the round of 16, after taking out Michael Llodra in straight sets. The 27-year-old Spaniard converted three of 6 break chances, en route to a 6-4, 6-4 success in 80 minutes of play. He completed the match with 76% of his second-service points captured.
Verdasco is slated to meet World No. 2 Rafael Nadal in the next round. Nadal defeated qualifier Julien Benneteau in round two, 6-4, 7-5.
