Former World No. 3 Nikolay Davydenko is through to the second round, following his straight-set success against Sergiy Stakhovsky. Qualifier Julien Benneteau also advanced after opponent Guillermo Garcia-Lopez retired.

Nikolay Davydenko made the second round, having ousted Sergiy Stakhovsky in straight sets Tuesday afternoon. The 30-year-old Russian saved four of 5 break points chances, en route to a 6-2, 7-6(5) victory in two hours and 19 minutes. Stakhovsky was unable to win more than 43% of his second-service points.
Davydenko will take on 7th seed Mardy Fish for a place in the round of 16.
(Q) Julien Benneteau def. Guillermo Garcia-Lopez 6-3, 1-0 (retired)
Qualifier Julien Benneteau passed into the second round, following the retirement of Guillermo Garcia-Lopez. The Frenchman had built a 6-3, 1-0 advantage when the Spaniard called it a day with appendicitis issues.
Benneteau is slated to meet World No. 2 Rafael Nadal for a third-round berth.
