Ram pulls the double in Newport

Lucky Loser Rajeev Ram upset No. 3 seed Sam Querrey to take the singles title at the Hall of Fame Championships. He also captured the doubles crown with Jordan Kerr.
In his first outing in an ATP tour final, Rajeev Ram came out the winner. The American entered the Campbell’s Hall of Fame Championships as a Lucky Loser. A spot in the draw opened up when Mardy Fish was called on to play Davis Cup in place of an injured Andy Roddick. Few would have guessed that Ram would go on to win the whole thing.
Querrey took the opening set in a tiebreaker. The two men had traded breaks of serve, but Querrey used his rocket serve to gain a 7-3 advantage for the lead. Ram maintained his focus, however. He fought off the 3 break points against him and managed to keep his head long enough to break Querrey’s serve at 6-5 to level the match.
Querrey went off his game in the third set. The American served at a dismal 46% and hit just 1 ace. Ram was able to take advantage as he pocketed 2 service breaks for the tournament win.
i just received a ph. call which sounded like a gun-shot on the other end. cracking codes to create new names are 'fun'. probably was how rajeev felt when he did enter as a lucky loser. how many more is what he'll focus on. a great pity for sam but he needs to consider the great achievement to do well at the us open !
