Second seed Florian Mayer is through to the quarterfinal, following his three-set victory over Carlos Berlocq. Joining the German among the final eight is veteran Filippo Volandri, who downed 3rd seed Marcel Granollers.

World No. 24 Florian Mayer survived a second-set lull to reach the final eight on Thursday. The German converted five of 12 break point chances, en route to a 6-2, 0-6, 6-4 victory in an hour and 52 minutes. By virtue of the second-round success, the 27-year-old is through to his ninth quarterfinal of the season.
He is slated to face Albert Ramos for a place in the semifinal. Ramos defeated fellow Spaniard Pere Riba in the round of 16, 2-6, 6-4, 7-5.
Filippo Volandri def. (3) Marcel Granollers 6-1, 6-3
World No. 86 Filippo Volandri reached the quarterfinal with a straight-set victory over 3rd seed Marcel Granollers. The 30-year-old veteran held seven of 8 service games, through to a 6-1, 6-3 win in 76 minutes. Granollers completed the match with just eight of 20 second-service points captured.
Volandri will take on Joao Souza in the quarterfinal. The Brazilian upended wildcard Adrian Ungur in the second round, 4-6, 7-6(6), 6-1.
