Marin Cilic survived a difficult round of 16 to reach the China Open quarterfinal. Kevin Anderson also advanced to the last eight, having ousted Albert Montanes in two tie-break sets.

World No. 25 Marin Cilic is through to the quarterfinal, following his hard-fought victory over Italian Fabio Fognini. The 23-year-old collected seven service breaks during the match, three of which came in the final set. Cilic completed the round of 16 outing with 8 aces struck through one hour and 54 minutes.
He is slated to face Kevin Anderson in the quarterfinal.

World No. 31 Kevin Anderson made the quarterfinal after taking out Albert Montanes in two tie-break sets. The 25-year-old South African tallied 13 aces through to a victory in two hours and 14 minutes of play. Anderson ended the match with 45 of 57 points won on his first serve.
