    Top seed David Ferrer made a successful start at the SkiStar Swedish Open, having ousted Italy’s Simone Bolelli in straight sets. The world No. 5 is joined in the quarterfinal by Jan Hajek, who upset 4th seed Jarkko Nieminen.

    Top seed David Ferrer is through to the final eight after downing Italy’s Simone Bolelli late Wednesday. The veteran converted four of seven break points en route to a 6-4, 6-3 victory in an hour and 15 minutes. Ferrer completed the match with 23 of 28 first-service points captured.

    He will take on compatriot Tommy Robredo for a place in the semifinals.

    World No. 102 Jan Hajek advanced to the quarterfinal following his straight-sets upset of 4th seed Jarkko Nieminen. The Czech converted four of 10 break points through 89 minutes of play. Hajek ended the round of 16 match with 77% of his first-service points won.

    He is slated to face Jurgen Zopp in the quarterfinals.
