World No. 1 Novak Djokovic kept his bid at the Swiss Indoors Basel alive, having rallied to defeat former world No. 8 Marcos Baghdatis. The top seed is through to face Kei Nishikori in the next round.
World No. 1 Novak Djokovic improved to 6-0 lifetime against Marcos Baghdatis following his three-set victory on Friday. The 24-year-old rallied through to a 99-minute win in the quarterfinals, 2-6, 6-2, 6-3.
After splitting the first two sets, Djokovic raced to a 3-0 advantage in the final set. He reached match point at 5-3, then closed with an unreturned serve. The Serb completed the winning effort with four aces and three of three break points converted.
He is scheduled to take on wildcard Kei Nishikori for a place in the championship final. Nishikori held on to beat lucky loser Mikhail Kukushkin in the quarterfinals, 6-4, 5-7, 6-4.
