Roger Federer won his 21st match against Andy Roddick to set up an all-Swiss showdown against Stanislas Wawrinka.
Roger Federer is no stranger to Andy Roddick’s monster serve. With this their 23rd match, the Swiss man has had plenty of practice returning Roddick’s biggest weapon. And in Friday’s match, Federer completely neutralized the American’s serve.
Roddick struck just 3 aces for the match, a sure sign of disaster against a player of Federer’s caliber. The Swiss’s own serve was working well enough to hold Roddick off completely. The American did not have a single chance at a service break.
The win sends Federer into the semifinals where he will take on his Davis Cup countryman Stanislas Wawrinka.
