World No. 2 Rafael Nadal continued his bid for a seventh Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell title, having ousted Janko Tipsarevic in straight sets. The defending champion is through to face either Kei Nishikori or Fernando Verdasco in the next round.

World No. 2 Rafael Nadal made the final four in Barcelona by virtue of his routine 6-2, 6-2 victory over world No. 8 Janko Tipsarevic. The defending champion converted five of 7 break points through an hour and 24 minutes of play.

Nadal led 3-0 in the first set, then followed with an insurance break to 5-1. After saving triple break point in game eight, the top seed closed with a heavy forehand. Nadal lost a 2-0 edge in set two but came back to break at 2-2 and 4-2. Match point came at 5-2 for the defending champion, who sealed the win with an ace.

"I felt well. I played a very good match, better than yesterday," said Nadal. "Very happy to be back in the semifinals. You cannot expect an easy match against the No. 8 in the world. 6-2, 6-2 is a very good result for me."

Nadal completed the quarterfinal with 81% of his second-service return points won.

He is scheduled to battle either 8th seed Kei Nishikori or 9th seed Fernando Verdasco in the semifinals.

wow , tipsy only won 19% of his second serves.shows you how dominant rafa is once a neutral rally ensues. Once again, rafa's backhand impresses me the most.
