11/9/11 2:04 PM | Cheryl Murray
No. 2 seed Andy Murray trounced Jeremy Chardy in straight sets on Wednesday afternoon in Paris.
Scotland’s Andy Murray got off to a fast start in his opening match against Frenchman Jeremy Chardy. The Scot gave the Parisian crowd little to cheer for as he ran through the first set. Chardy faced down 5 break points, while Murray lost just 2 points on serve for the entire set.
Chardy at least shored up his own service games a bit more in the second set. The Frenchman faced just one break point; unfortunately for Chardy, Murray was able to convert on it.
The crowd tried to get Chardy into the match as Murray was set to serve it out at 5-4. The Frenchman got to 15-30, but a steady Murray and too many errors from Chardy erased any chance of forcing a third set.
Murray will take on American Andy Roddick in the round of 16.

Well done AndyM, good result and kept a level head. AndyR could be a tricky customer though.
