Dolgopolov moves on, Monfils ousted

Alexandr Dolgopolov reached the round of 16 in Paris, following his straight-set win against Philipp Kohlshcreiber. The Ukrainian is joined by Feliciano Lopez, who took out 2010 runner-up Gael Monfils.

Fourteenth seed Alexandr Dolgopolov advanced to the round of 16, having upended qualifier Philipp Kohlschreiber in straight sets. The 23-year-old Ukrainian tallied 11 aces through one hour and 26 minutes of play. He completed the winning effort with two service breaks and 27 of 34 first-service points captured.
Dolgopolov will take on fourth seed David Ferrer in the next round. The Spaniard defeated qualifier Nicolas Mahut in the second round, 6-4, 6-4.

Feliciano Lopez is through to the third round after dispatching 2010 finalist Gael Monfils Wednesday evening. The Spaniard took the opening set, then secured a key service break at 3-3 in the second. Lopez ended the match with five of 5 break points saved through an hour and 21 minutes.
He is scheduled to meet John Isner for a place in the quarterfinals. The American dismissed lucky loser Igor Kunitsyn round two, 6-4, 6-4.
