Fourth seed David Ferrer advanced to the third round at the BNP Paribas Masters, having downed qualifier Nicolas Mahut in straight sets. He moves on to face 14th seed Alexandr Dolgopolov in the next round.
World No. 5 David Ferrer is through to the round of 16 following his straight-set victory over Frenchman Nicolas Mahut. The Spaniard held ten consecutive service games en route to a 6-4, 6-4 win in an hour and 27 minutes of play.
Ferrer led 3-1 in the opening set, then secured a key break of serve at 4-4 in the second. He completed the winning effort with two aces and 19 of 27 first-service points captured.
Ferrer is slated to meet 14th seed Alexandr Dolgopolov for a place in the quarterfinals. The Ukrainian defeated qualifier Philipp Kohlschreiber in the second round, 6-3, 7-6(6).

I woke then at six-thirty and was (just) lucky to discover Gilles Simon and Juan Monaco in their first set. The struggling Argentine to pin his name on the walls for preceding years was eventful, fill with powerful enthusisam and won their match at two sets.
