Two-time defending champion David Ferrer advanced to the last four at the Abierto Mexicano Telcel, following his straight-sets dismissal of compatriot Pablo Andujar. The Spaniard will face either Carlos Berlocq or Santiago Giraldo next.

World No. 6 David Ferrer made his third semifinal of the season, having upended fellow Spaniard Pablo Andujar late Thursday. The two-time defending champion secured four of 6 break points through to a 6-2, 6-4 victory in 75 minutes.

After securing the opening set in 29 minutes, Ferrer held Andujar to just 7 return points in the second set. He completed the successful effort with 25 of 28 first-service points captured.

Ferrer will take on either Carlos Berlocq or Santiago Giraldo in the semifinal.
