Expert picks are back for Sunday at the French Open. Join the fun in the comments section for the right to become a guest picker later in the tournament!
(1) Roger Federer vs. (20) Stanislas Wawrinka
Ricky "Ginepri is from Atlanta" Dimon: Federer has not had an interesting match yet at the French Open and I don't think this one will be any different. Wawrinka simply does not have what it takes to beat his friend and heavily-favored countryman, especially not at a Grand Slam. Plus Federer is playing pretty darn well at the moment. Federer 7-5, 6-2, 6-4.
Cheryl "Desperate times call for desperate measures" Murray: Wawrinka CAN beat Federer on clay. He proved it last year at Monte Carlo....I just don't think he can do it in a best of 5 match. If Wawa's backhand is clicking, he could get a set, but there is just no way The Federer is dropping this match. Federer 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 6-2.
"The black" vrael: Wawrinka was thrashed by Roger in their recent encounter and Stan might not want to go through that experience again....I think he will bring his best on Sunday and will take a set of Roger this time. Federer 6-3,4-6,7-5,6-4.
Cheryl: If ever there were going to be a non-clay-court-like match at Roland Garros, this is it. If this were any other surface than clay, I'd pick Cilic in a minute...but I can't escape the feeling that Soderling is going to take it. Soderling 7-5, 6-7(5), 6-4, 6-4.
vrael: Soderling looks confident; he did not have a lot of problems against anyone he has faced till now, dispatching them easily. It shouldn't be much of a problem for him against Cilic, who is not that great on clay (as of now). Soderling 6-4,3-6,6-2,7-6.
Cheryl: Muzza has actually been playing pretty well in his last couple of matches. Certainly better than I've become accustomed to when he is on clay. That being said, he isn't playing as well as Berdych. As neither man is a clay court player, I think it's fairly safe to predict the results based on form along. Berdych 6-3, 6-4, 5-7, 6-3.
vrael: Berdych is in great form, playing with great depth in his shots and has all the weapons in his arsenal to take the Scot down. Berdych 6-3,5-7,6-4,3-6,6-2.
Cheryl: I haven't been very impressed with Tsonga at RG. Brands pushed him to 5 sets and De Bakker pushed him to 4. I wouldn't normally choose Youzhny on clay against a top player, but I think the Russian wins this one. Youzhny 3-6, 6-4, 7-5, 6-3.
vrael: Tsonga hasn't been at his best at Roland Garros this year having played grueling matches already and troubled by some injuries, too. Youzhny is ever consistent and his experience shall help him win this. Youzhny 4-6,6-3,7-5,6-4.

Cheryl - your comments for Murray are under Tsonga and vice versa.
As for forecasts - I think: score line?
Federer
Soderling
Berdych
Youzhny

I am just going to pick the winner and maybe number of sets. I don't like trying to pick the exact score. If that leaves me out of the running for wins or guest pickers, so be it.
I think Fed will do it, but in four sets.
Cilic and Soderling is a tough one. I think Soderling will do it in four.
I am going with Berdych to take out Murray in four sets.
I also think that Youzhny will beat Tsonga in four.
Nativenewyorker , 5/30/10 6:29 AM
patzin - that's my bad because I pick these things. I will fix it.
RickyDimon , 5/30/10 6:54 AM
everyone welcome VRAEL as the guest picker. He won the Friday picks.
RickyDimon , 5/30/10 7:08 AM
IM HONOURED!!!!
thank you ricky dimon and cheryl..
vrael , 5/30/10 7:18 AM
Fedex and Sod in straight. Tsonga, Andy in four.
eskay , 5/30/10 7:33 AM
My picks are
Federer in 3

I'm hoping - Tsonga in 4
missyRF , 5/30/10 8:59 AM
My picks
Federer in 3
Soderling in 4
Berdych in 4
For this one,i'm going to go out on one limb and go Tsonga in 4. He is a more talented player than Youzhny, and with the crowd behind him,he can do it. However,im hoping his injury was just a tweak(that could be fixed with a days rest and the physio) and not a serious one.
tj600 , 5/30/10 9:14 AM
Also, when federer won his 3rd round match, i think it was his 700th tour win,and 150th clay court win in his career. I know his timing always been perfect, but that took some planning!!
tj600 , 5/30/10 9:52 AM
Today's results will hinge on who handles the weather conditions the best. There will be near gale force 7 (60km/38mph) winds from late morning through the afternoon. It should favour the big hitters but painting the lines will be a high risk strategy and a high UE count the order of the day.
Federer in 5
Cilic in 4
Berdych in 5
Youzhny in 4
ed251137 , 5/30/10 9:56 AM
Ok peeps Im going out on a limb to say that Wawrinka depending on the conditions may trouble Federer and even pull out a win, on the condition that he goes out swinging like made and prepared to either win in a blaze glory or lose very ugly.
My predictions
Wawrinka in 4
Soderling in 4
Berdych in 4
Youzhny in 4
isabeau77 , 5/30/10 10:33 AM
Federer 6-4 6-4 7-6
Söderling 6-2 5-7 6-4 7-5
Berdych 7-6 2-6 6-3 5-7 8-6
Tsonga 6-4 6-4 6-4
Maglor , 5/30/10 10:35 AM
how insane people r picking wawrinka ...this shows how brain less bimbos they r.......
chenna , 5/30/10 10:46 AM
There sud have been a thread discussing how many games will Federer lose to Wawrinka and not of Wawrinka beating Fed
I dont think WAW will not get more than 12 games.
atul1985 , 5/30/10 11:00 AM
Chenna, well which players named not Rafael nadal did Roger lose to in the two clay tournaments he played prior to Madrid?!
Thinking that wawrinka can't beat fed when he has lost on clay to lesser players is stupid, not the other way around!
isabeau77 , 5/30/10 11:06 AM
federer 6-4 5-7 6-2 6-3
soderling 7-5 6-4 7-6
youzhny 7-6 4-6 6-4 6-4
berdych 6-4 6-2 3-6 6-4

deuce , 5/30/10 11:58 AM
chenna,
Mind your own business, make your own picks as simple as that. You are welcome to laugh at me if my picks lost but you can not criticize me of who I want to root for, stupid you.
Raindrops , 5/30/10 11:58 AM
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6mWzMq9lg88 this is the best i found mate
vamosrafa , 5/30/10 12:03 PM
thanks VR
vrael , 5/30/10 1:06 PM
Raindrops- I too picked wawrinka. Chenna can just stay out of it, because as I wrote to chenna, roger lost to lesser players than wawrinka on clay other than rafa this year so it is possible
isabeau77 , 5/30/10 1:41 PM
Fed 7-5,6-4,6-3
Sod 6-3,5-7,6-4,6-4
Berdy 7-5,3-6,6-4,4-6,6-2
Tsonga 6-7(4),6-4,6-3,7-5
chr18 , 5/30/10 2:35 PM
Fed in 3
Cilic in 4
Berdych in 4
Youzhny in 5
luckystar , 5/30/10 3:13 PM
Murray sez clay is his favorite surface. Dunno if it's "the true" (I'm learning Rafa-English) but I like his attitude. Don't think Stan has a prayer. Tsonga's been healthy for an abnormally long time for him, poor guy. The Sod looks to be in great form and I've been a bit underwhelmed by Cilic lately.
Fed in 3
Sod in 4
Murray in 5
Youzhny in 4
Strangely enough I'd be happy to be totally wrong!
Ramara , 5/30/10 3:16 PM
Federer 6-4 7-6(2) 6-4
Soderling 7-5 6-2 7-6(3)
Murray 4-6 6-3 7-5 3-6 6-4
Tsonga 4-6 7-5 6-3 6-4
vmk1 , 5/30/10 3:19 PM
An aside ... I've been watching men's doubles (granted on line, but somewhere they must be on TV) ... something to cheer up clayking after yesterday's slaughter.
Fed, Sod, Tsonga and I don't know (New Berdych beats Murray, but New Clay Murray beats Regular Berdych).
smr , 5/30/10 3:28 PM
that's why i am saying atleast use ur brains while picking..
roger never lost to any tom and dick in grandslams..
if it is against nadal i am very much agree with ur picks..
chenna , 5/30/10 6:12 PM
Raindrops,
Good pick of Stan to win in straight sets(if you were trying to be asinine). Maybe wishful thinking? Better luck next time.
chr18 , 5/30/10 6:34 PM
Ricky "Berdych" Dimon ;)
rfzr , 5/30/10 9:37 PM
I have a suggestion to improve the FO. They should use all florescent gear. Balls, rackets, shoes, and line paint. Possibly everyone could also be fitted with infrared goggles.
Ramara , 5/30/10 9:38 PM
well a day of such promise did not produce anything
4 matches, only 10 sets contested. Awful.
RickyDimon , 5/30/10 9:39 PM
Yesterday wasn't much better.
ed251137 , 5/30/10 10:45 PM
Did i win the guest picker competition this time Ricky? Lol
vamosrafa , 5/30/10 11:20 PM
WEll WEll well, none of the matches lived up to expectations and we had a relatively disappointing day of tennis , nonetheless, the great ROger Federer produced another amzingly consistent grand slam performace to score a good win. REgarding our experts , Ricky's confidence bubble has been burst somewhat by a resurgent Cheryl;here is how they stand:
1.RIcky Dimon= 13 points, perhaps getting a bit too overconfident about his abilities to produce good results at slam level?? whatever the reason , it was a poor day of forecasting for the top dog.
2.CHeryl Murray= 12 points, from nowhere the plucky and genius ms.murray put together a string of smart picks to find herself jusssst behind the leader Ricky Dimon (her arch rival).
*can RIcky do enough to derail the Cheryl express that is seemingly on its way to reaching the top of the table? or will cheryl suffer a dip in concentration and allow Ricky to extend his lead? to find out we are gona have to wait for tomorrow ,folks . :)
*good luck experts and may be I might be joining you on day 9 picks :D
vamosrafa , 5/30/10 11:33 PM
Oooo the Cilic and Muzza picks really hurt. This one is too close to call, imo. * goes to make more popcorn*
Good luck to both of you. :)
Kelli , 5/30/10 11:39 PM
vamos - yes you won. email me immediately!
