  • Approach shots: Federer looks for more while Nadal rests knees

    2009-06-07 21:51:32
"Approach Shots" is Ricky's weekly look at what's ahead (or "approaching") on the ATP Tour. Every Sunday he'll preview all the tournaments scheduled for the upcoming week.

Roger Federer just made history on Sunday, and while he hinted at taking a rest this week, there is certainly no rest for tennis fans.

The short but sweet grass-court season begins on Monday with Queen's Club (AEGON Championships in London) and the Gerry Weber Open in Halle, Germany. Federer is in the Halle field as the No. 1 seed and, at least at the moment, he is still in it. Novak Djokovic made the switch from Queen's to Halle and is seeded second. Andy Murray, meanwhile, leads the way as the top seed at Queen's Club.

That leaves Rafael Nadal as the only member of the "Big 4" not in action. The world No. 1 is once again dealing with knee problems and could even be in doubt for Wimbledon. For now, however, it's another star-studded week on the ATP World Tour.

    AEGON Championships

    Where: London, England
    Surface: Grass
    Prize Money: 750,000 Euros
    Points: 250
    Top Seed: Andy Murray
Defending Champion: Rafael Nadal (not playing)

Draw Analysis: With Nadal out due to knee problems, Murray is the No. 1 seed and the clear favorite to treat the Great Britain crowd to a title. While the field is not the strongest it's ever been, Murray will have plenty of competition.

Two of Murray's potential challengers, however, are in the same quarter of the draw; a quarter that is by far the strongest in the field. Andy Roddick is the No. 2 seed and he could face fifth-seeded Marin Cilic, a big-serving 6'6'' Croat, as early as the quarters. Lleyton Hewitt and 6'10'' Croat Ivo Karlovic are the other seeds in Roddick's section.

Other potential threats include Gilles Simon, Marat Safin, and Gael Monfils. Safin and Monfils are in the same quarter opposite Murray in the top half of the draw, and although both are dangerous, both come with question marks. Monfils' knees remain questionable and he has always done better on clay and hard courts, while Safin is mired in a last-year slump.

Simon is also in dismal form—at least by the standards he set for himself in 2008—and he probably does not possess a big enough game to be a huge factor on grass. The Frenchman will battle for a semifinal spot along with James Blake, Ivan Ljubicic, Jeremy Chardy, and perhaps Mikhail Youzhny.

First-Round Upset Alert: Eight of the 16 seeds have byes to the second round, so there is not a ton of potential for an opening-round surprise. Two to watch out for, however, are Sam Querrey vs. (12) Jeremy Chardy and Robert Kendrick vs. (10) Feliciano Lopez.

All four of those guys are big servers, so both matches could come down to tiebreakers and just a few critical points. Chardy, however, is in much better form than Querrey at the moment so he should be able to advance unless the 6'6'' American is on fire with his serve.

Momentum Builders (Players looking to continue recent good form): Andy Murray, Andy Roddick, Gael Monfils, Marin Cilic, Jeremy Chardy, Janko Tipsarevic, Ivan Ljubicic

Slump Busters (Players hoping to resurrect their games): Gilles Simon, James Blake, Ivo Karlovic, Ernests Gulbis, Robby Ginepri, Gilles Muller, Sebastien Grosjean, Sam Querrey, Marcos Baghdatis, Eduardo Schwank

Semifinal Predictions: Andy Murray over Paul-Henri Mathieu and Andy Roddick over Ivan Ljubicic

    Final Prediction: Murray over Roddick

    Gerry Weber Open

    Where: Halle, Germany
    Surface: Grass
    Prize Money: 750,000 Euros
    Points: 250
    Top Seed: Roger Federer
    Defending Champion: Roger Federer

Draw Analysis: Federer hinted at pulling out of this tournament in a post-match interview with John McEnroe after the French Open final. Obviously if he does pull out, it changes the whole dynamic of the draw. For now, however, the 14-time Grand Slam champion is in.

Federer should not have any trouble at all until a potential semifinal clash with either Jo-Wilfried Tsonga or Tomas Berdych. Tsonga has been playing awesome tennis this season and Berdych, who took Federer to five sets at the Australian Open, has a big serve and forehand that can work well on grass. Tommy Haas, who led Federer two sets to love in Paris, is also in the second quarter of the draw that is surely the most difficult.

The bottom half of the field is headlined by Novak Djokovic, the No. 2 seed. He has a tough opener on his hands against Simone Bolelli and he is on a collision course with Fernando Verdasco for the semifinals. Verdasco has a great draw in a soft third quarter, while Viktor Troicki and Jurgen Melzer join Bolelli in Djokovic's section.

First-Round Upset Alert: Marc Gicquel over (8) Rainer Schuettler. Schuettler is still getting seeded at tournaments simply because he reached the semifinals of Wimbledon last summer. Given his current form, however, the German belongs in qualifying draws at best. He is even struggling to win games at the moment. Gicquel, on the other hand, reached the third round of the French Open before falling to Andy Roddick. He should be able to oust Schuettler with little trouble.

Also count on Igor Kunitsyn dispatching sixth-seeded Dmitry Tursunov. Kunitsyn would actually have a better chance on a slower surface, but Tursunov has been hurt and did not play in between Miami and Roland Garros.

Momentum Builders (Players looking to continue recent good form): Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, Fernando Verdasco, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Christophe Rochus, Victor Hanescu

Slump Busters (Players hoping to resurrect their games): Dmitry Tursunov, Rainer Schuettler, Stefan Koubek, Philipp Petzschner

Semifinal Predictions: Roger Federer over Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Novak Djokovic over Fernando Verdasco

    Final Prediction: Federer over Djokovic

Heya Ricky - Fed's out of Halle, so I would definitely predict Nole to take the title, baring all upsets :o)

As for Queens, I don't know why I'm inclined to think Roddick might pull off a win over Murray. It's just a hunch and I'm probably going to be wrong. :P

jyannis , 6/10/09 2:57 AM

i'm voting for tsonga to take halle.

im with jyannis about roddick winning queens. just a feeling.

karupin , 6/10/09 9:47 AM

Its ok that Fed is not playing ...im happy to find FedExpress on the "Momentum Builders" list .......and a prediction from Ricky for a Fed win .

Will miss Fed . Hope to see him in his best form at Wimby ..

C'MON !!!!

fedexfan , 6/10/09 10:12 AM

I hope that Rafa pass up Wimby and Andy wins it to take the #2 ranking.

danny , 6/10/09 11:46 AM

"pass up Wimby"???? are you sure you want that? I would like to see Andy to win too but a Wimbledon without a Rafa challenge will be a walk in the park for Roger...

sisterofnight12 , 6/10/09 9:39 PM

the days of anything being "a walk in the park" for Federer are long over.

RickyDimon , 6/10/09 11:39 PM

So true, Ricky - so true. Look at Roland Garros...Fed got what he dreamed of and more and that was WITHOUT Rafa but was it a walk in the park for him? Nope. He may have "only beaten" a bunch of sods in many's opinion (no direct pun towards Bobby Sod hahhaha) but he fought and clawed his way into that final and for the win.

With the way the field is right now, with every other player, especially the top ones, being at least 4-5 years younger than Roger...he has his work cut out for him if he wants more slams. And I hope he knows it.

jyannis , 6/11/09 12:39 AM

well, then, who do you think can challenge Roger in Wimbledon except Rafa??? Murray,I hope so but he's yet to beat Roger in a GS match.Novak, well,I'm not so sure about his form.Del Potro, his game is not suited to grass so I don't expect much from him...
Ok,Roger may lose a couple of sets here and there if that's what you mean but in the end,the trophy will be his...there's no doubt about that.

sisterofnight12 , 6/11/09 9:59 AM

sisterofnight
Hold your horses a bit, will ya?
I wouldn't say 'there's no doubt about' Roger getting the title considering someone else is the raining champion, remember?
It's also true that every year we say that someone other than Rafa will give him a run for his money but he always manages to ease his way to the final (Roger I mean)
So, let's wait and see, shall we? :)

Shireling , 6/11/09 12:54 PM

I'm for Roger to WIN Wimbledon, but not as a walk in the park (sisterofnight12). Nothing is written in stone. Roger will give it his BEST shot, and although he should/will prevail by my book. It will not be easy. It NEVER is. Even though there are times when "he does" make it look easy doesn't he?! :)

sky , 6/11/09 1:21 PM

sisterofnight, there's plenty of doubt indeed. I've learnt that nothing is set in stone after Roland Garros this year. I was 101% sure Rafa was going for fifth straight RG and look what happened. Being a Fed fan, sure I am really happy but I would've never predicted he'll get #14 at RG.

So I'm hoping for plenty of excitement and fantastic play for Wimby this year. Would love for Roger to regain his crown but he really is going to have his work cut out for him. Besides Rafa, Murray wants it, and so does Nole and I'm sure we have dark horses like Soderling lurking about just waiting to pounce!

jyannis , 6/11/09 1:55 PM

Hey sky! Absolutely 100% agree with you there buddy....

Federer made it very clear at the beginning of the year that this year was all about winning slams...we all know that his mindset is the strongest in the game.... when he plays in a slam...

he is a whole different beast...his mindset changes and he is just playing a chess game...waiting to move into position...checkmate......and when people said not too long ago that fed was HISTORY...yeah...your right..he IS HISTORY PERSONIFIED!

As you say sky...he does make it look easy....and i think he is gonna be on a huge high moving into wimby.....am sure he will have had some solid grass court practice next week...prior to wimby...and shake the cobwebs away......

He will give it his BEST shot as he always does...but he is hungry as ever and this is his year......15th Grand slam looming......why not?
C'MON!
Allez Federer.

malteser1 , 6/12/09 6:06 PM

Muzz and Nole should pull off the wins in their respective 'tune-ups' and go into Wimby gung-ho! They looking good.

Hi, Malty, sky, jyannis, fedexfan, aren't ya'll just sooooo excited! It's all about match by match and I am planning to be tuned in, babee!

I liked how Fed's backhand, forehand, drop shot AND ....the gauge of his back health...the serve. The serve was ON. The other really great news is his stamina and strength, mental and physical. He is a BEAST, plus the weight off his mighty shoulders of not needing to hear the same old story of never winning the French. He has joined the immortals.....woohoo suisse choochoo!
MWAH! xx

zoey234 , 6/13/09 1:20 AM

yep....fed should be going into wimby zoey.....with a ton of confidence now.....his aura well intact....and his mindset...a...ready....to....focus and go through wimby game by game....match by match....this is what he has been working towards all year I believe....making it clear when he lost by the narrowest of margins to rafa in 2008, that he would be back to reclaim the trophy this year....so am not thinking anything else other than fed is gonna go all out to grab that trophy back!

Like you, i really like the improvements to his game and the changes he has made...and i guess he needs to thank rafa for that.....so that fed can now put those changes into play and those drop shots can glide through the air and fall like a lead bean bag the other side of the net.....the inside out shot as well is just awesome to watch....and what wilanders called the 'hook' forehand...(not a shot in the book called that...he kinda made it up)...but now calls it a federer 'made up' shot.....

it will be interesting to see how fed responds to his new 'mightier' status...and in particular...will be really interested to see how soderling plays at wimby after such a fine showing at FO....get strapped in soon zoey babe......Fed is 'Ferrr....nomenal!'
C'MON!
Allez Federer!

malteser1 , 6/13/09 12:39 PM

Fed should win this but not surprised if he doesnt win it. The young guns are out to prove themselves again. They were too confident that Fed has already been tamed but they got a big bucket of ice water when Fed wins RG2009.

To Nadal, Andy and Djoker, plz make sure u keep ur level because Fed will capitalize anything less than their best tennis.

torres9 , 6/13/09 6:39 PM

And they will do the same if fed doesn't play anything less than their best tennis! That's what the game is....taking advantage of others weaknesses.

fan4tennis , 6/13/09 8:25 PM

Maltesers where r u? Having a life? Fun? Playing tennis? I am home today (2 pm ) my time and checking here off and on....but I jeep missing u.

I think Fed has his work cut out for him with Nole who has been flogging himself ever since the early exit at RG. Nole and Muzz both gotta feel like this could be their GS to win. And....not to underestimate Rafa...here, would not be wise to imagine Rafa needed more that a little diagnostic reassurance, rehab, and rest to get him fired up about wimby....but, there it is...

I have watched that RG final over and over, keeping in mind Fed would have not served that well if his back was in pain and against Haas, he would simply not been able to win the way he did if it was AO 2008 or RG 2008....smiling.

mwah!

zoey234 , 6/13/09 10:13 PM

zoey...have been here honey....but you know without fed or rafa playing.....am not really a massive fan of the other players...tho' been dipping in and out of the AEGON championships and Halle tournys....its just not the same to me without a full field....i wonder where soderling has been playing since the FO?.

If you have seen novak play at halle...it hasn't been that brilliant actually...he clawed back 5 match points but he has made it to the final....and haas is noted for being a bit of a choker when push comes to shove....so nole should take this easy......

Murray has just rolled into the final at queens...he's only played 4 hours of match play this week....so more of a practice run for him really......and am telling you zoey...it has reached FEVER PITCH already with murray....Argh!!!! Already hailed the champion in waiting...it's unbearable.....

And FFT..it's been a while honey...but how can you say

'And they will do the same if fed doesn't play anything less than their best tennis! That's what the game is....taking advantage of others weaknesses'.

Fed playing anything less than 'their' best tennis....? how about the other way round? rafa, novak and murray were all out in the FO..and they didn't raise their game to beat roger's..FACT...so i think there should be a role reversal in terminology here......plus in terms of roger's mental strength....he had more than either of them...jshed loads in fact.....just thought i'd point that out...cos you conveniently missed that....

so zoey..still dipping in and out of the site...but am sure it will all change when wimby starts next week....tho' actually have tickets for Tuesday...so am hoping to see fed and as I mentioned to sky a while ago...am going down there armed with the intention of getting feds, rafas, roddicks, delpo's,davydenko's, and anyone else i can harass....signatures......then you will have to send me your email address and i'll forward on....
fft....who do you want me to get a signature from? I would assume rafa? so will try my best for you.....

C'MON!
Allez Federer!

malteser1 , 6/14/09 9:43 AM

hello fellow federites ...

Ive been going in and out here as well . no fun with fed not playing . nothing to you tube.....nothin to read ... i miss Fed !!! anyways ..he seems to be doing well ..so he says on his FB . They have this new Nike advert for Fed which is hilarious ...you can find it on his FB page .

I think Fed is going to come in to wimby really relaxed . in fact , the only people stressing bout him is probably going to be his fans ...especially the ones here !!!
miss talkin to you all ...hope fed gives us some fun stuff to aweeee about in the coming weeks .

Been watching Queens and Hallle every now and then ...for some reason , the tourney lacks the excitement that it used to have the last few years ......in fact Tennistalk has been rather empty ( in terms of post) these past few days ...sigh....cant wait for WIMBY ...

WIBLETON 09 ...Its where we right the wrongs ! :) ( **wink wink ** )

C''MON !!!!!

fedexfan , 6/14/09 12:50 PM

Hi Malty! If it happens spiritinthesky@hotmail.com will only be "too" happy to receive your mail! :) LOL

Roger is "READY". What if he WINS?! That would be ULTRA cool wouldn't it?! Wow!!!! I'm really looking forward to Wimbledon! It will be "the very first time" Roger plays after his "Historic" WIN in Paris. Interesting psychology Rafa choosing Murray over Roger. It will give Roger's WIN that much more meaning (I think)! LOL It puts a whole new perpective on things. Roger beats for the WIN. Roger is in peoples heads! I M A G I N E!!! Wishing you the BEST of times in Wimbledon. Go Roger go!! Cheers FEDfans! (fedexfan, zoey, the boss, torres, niloofar, Rafterfan, and all the "other" FEDfans!) :)

sky , 6/14/09 1:21 PM

Dont be too greedy guys, it's a win-win situation for Federer.

If Fed doesnt win Wimby, still has 14 GS and USO is his backyard as much as Wimby is.

If Nadal wins, 7 GS, still 7 more...

If Djoker wins, 2 Gs, still 12 more...

If Muzza wins, 1 GS, still 13 more...

So whatever happens in Wimby is a win-win situation for Fed but of course winning it will be SWEEEEEETTTT SWISS SW19!!!

torres9 , 6/14/09 3:01 PM

ummm torres ...and you called us greedy ? :P hhehehhe

FedExpress rollong on #15 ....

C'MON !!!

fedexfan , 6/14/09 5:24 PM

Hi Malt, sky, torres, fedexfan, and fellow Federites ( i like that, 'federites' fedexfan) and the Nadalista extraordinaire: Fan4tennis.

This is almost like a Fed match thread seeing ya'll here.

Know what you mean Malt, I been 'dipping' too. Haas winning in Halle over Nole...not sure what to make of it, since im still in need of tennis channel...a MUST for Wimby. Hmm...good point where do you think Robin Hood is hiding and practicing his aim?

Plenty of info online about Murray, Malt for sure...he seems able to handle it doesn't he, the way he has stormed Queens this week. There is a gslam title here or at NYC for him is what I feel..Wimby is gonna be a fight tho... the Haas, Roddicks, who knows Delpo...All of them dream of the wimby...not underestimating reigning champ at all.

AND you, Malt, r going you b there next week?! You really think there is a chance for seeing, I mean chatting with Federer? Long enough to get something for your TT mates? What do you have up your sleeve? : ) >o<

Better chance at seeing somebody on a downhill slide like Gilles Simon? I'd take his...autograph...Safin's...even stoop for Muzza's Noles, Rafa's...lol!

Do tell more...malt xx

greedy torres? are u a federite? He has soo spoiled us. It is easier said than done. always licking chops for more, more...isn't it true, when you love his tennis...SWEEEEEET swiss ...rights the wrongs, Fedexfan.

Let's see what happens , one match at a time, drool

zoey234 , 6/14/09 5:35 PM

hi zoey ...the term is free for those who would like to use it ...kinda gives it a star wars vibe ...reminded me of the old darth fed. :P

"one match at a time " worked in RG ....i have a feeling we were in sync with fed over here . maybe malt can check on this when they meet . but i reckon she wouldnt be doing much talkin as her jaws will probably be on the floor ...hehehhe i can imagine such a huge fan like malt meeting fed ..would be hilarious ...let us know if you get a word out malt. i think meeting him is gona rock your world !!

wimby is going to be a fight ...and i mean fight ...its the first time going into a GS that i actually worry bout the seeds making in deep into the tournament . RG 09 has thought us all that ...but then again my man Fed is always the exception to the rule ...but then again ...he has to be careful ...but then again he has all the shot to make it all the way and regain his prized possession .. but then again the unseeded guys are so dangerous ...omigod im loosing it oredi :P

"one match at a time " ...thats all im saying ...what will happen will happen . stay together on the Fed train federites !!!

SW09 ...its where we right the wrongs !

C'MON !!!!

fedexfan , 6/14/09 6:20 PM

ROFL...fedexfan. Ohhh to see Malt going after RF.....

rocks my world already.... visualize Malt....do it...just do it! nike, yike...be calm, coool, collected....until you get yours/ our message conveyed and then.....just tell him how many of us are doing the "one point, one game, one set...." oh you know best. Just try keeping your eyes in sockets when making eye contact...

oh to see that on a vid....

hold on to your seat fedexfan haaaaaa

"one match at a time"....tell him malteser...

where we right the wrongs...whispering to all federites

zoey234 , 6/14/09 6:49 PM

It cracks me up when I see all the "federites" chanting "one match at a time." That's been Rafa's mantra for the past 4-5 years! He has ALWAYS said that. Us Rafa fans have said it alot too. Looks like fed fans finally realized it's the truth!

fan4tennis , 6/14/09 7:58 PM

nah...f4t...the fedfans don't need to copy any mantras honey....we do it ourselves.....we know the truth...we believe in the fed.

And fedfans...have been laughing like a drain this end of the globe! You crack me up! Oh yeah! I will be droooolin' chaps...but all in the name of L-U-R-V-E for the fed....ma..ma...ma..ma..ma...boogie shoes! de na...de na......

Only going for the day (Tuesday)....but have been told a good chance that I will see top ten players playing and I will be down to those practice courts at 5 am! they don't call me stalker for nuffin! Oh My God....can hardly breathe right now.....have bought the BRIGHTEST BLUE dress.....long, very chic, very cool, very hippy boho chic...just hoping for some sun....hoping to stand out in the crowd when I wave my baseball caps/poems/photos and I have a whistle! you know I can whistle like a builder...two fingers in the mouth and 'whit....whooing'.....you know...no time for good behaviour when trying to catch the fed's attention...right...zoey? Hey....will absolutely do what I can for all you guys (even Fan4tennis...)....will try and get as many signatures as I can....that's a promise....if I am able to have a 'chat' with roger...will tell him all about our visualisation and chooo chooing on that fedex train...me thinks tho' that i won't make much sense...will be speaking jabberwocky and probably be led away by security to a dark, dark room to lie down and be calm...!

cannot wait for wimby to watch fed on the big screen and have no worries about his game...i think this rest will be just what he needed....and i suspect this week he will already be on the practice grass courts somewhere underground..where no one can check out his game.....oh to be a spy right now!

Great to touch base with you all guys....spesh love to zoey, sky and fedex....mwah! xx

malteser1 , 6/14/09 11:05 PM

Thank you for the offer malty but just stick to fed, which I'm sure you will. I have friends of my own that will be at Wimby that can get something about Rafa if I so wish.

fan4tennis , 6/15/09 8:44 PM

I can see you.....malt! You, a bright blue kardashianesque aphrodite with the marcos baghdatis charm...big beaming smile...maybe a Swiss flag....not the jimmy jump swis sock, tho kicking a leg up rockette style, with those might, forget those, k...and...good thing i can't be there...have yet to take that swiss manners test...um. i dunno HOW it is or will be trying to get RF
attention...not a groupie but could learn fast, lol... stay coool...whistling? don't get arrested...

He has a sense of humor...i fancy it as sort of twisted...like Andy Roddick's... Fed is not above busting up laughing...study him Malt. Oh, to be a ranger roaming the plains of wimby with you!

Safin...Simon....

drool

Go on Malt....mwah! and hugs...visualise, believe...i imagine bright blue you and his casual practice attire....maybe you can get Mirka's, Sven's, Robert or Lynette's attention...

no jaberwacky talkkie, eye rolling, skull spinning, all the way to padded .....no....no

ROFL....

this is the time....take back wimbie....all yours....right these wrongs....we totally L_U_R_V_E you, RF ....

zoey234 , 6/15/09 9:42 PM

hey zoey..
absolutely....LURVE fed...the guy rocks...he is class, the best...but still sticking by the same motto...game by game...match by match....some very exciting times ahead for our fed......would really like to know what he's been doing this last week..have visions of him having his own private grass court underground somewhere playing against Jessie Levine, the American Leftie.......all hush hush somewhere...taking 'secret' breaks....all kinda mysterious......

But when he strides on that court...Tuesday? First round bye on Monday? Oh....am sure he gonna be firing on all cylinders and ready for battle again...I don't know how you feeling this time around...but like torres said a while ago....feeling pretty relaxed now after the french..monkey off his back with having captured Roland Garros....and so now....will be cutting through the draw swiftly and with confidence to....as you say......right these wrongs......

Catch you later zoey......mwah!
xx

C'MON!
Allez Federer!

They just lack imagination f4t to come up with their own mantra. They also usurped Hewitt's "C'MON!" battle cry.

danny , 6/17/09 11:28 AM

well, danny, we are imaginative enough to imagine that Fed will win RG and he did. And you also said 13 is Fed's unlucky number because Rafa beat him 13 times and that he will be stucked at 13 GS. Wow, you must have never imagined that Rafa would get beaten by Soderling. How funny.

torres9 , 6/17/09 2:39 PM

torres...danny only pops up every now and again....to add on to the tail end of discussions and stoke it up a bit...it would be really nice for him to come up with an original idea for a change.....however, he did manage to write two paragraphs this time.....rather than his usual one liners....(sometimes two...if we're lucky)...
C'MON dan! say something interesting for a change and join the fedexpress!

malteser1 , 6/17/09 3:51 PM

some interesting stats here guys.....

Analysis of the ATP rankings reveals that Roger Federer went into The French Open 4,490 points behind Rafael Nadal but after winning the title, he cut the margin right down to 2,070 points. Nadal's lead is a narrow 2,115 going into Wimbledon.

Because both Federer and Nadal withdrew from grass court tournaments in preparation for Wimbledon they both lost 450 points from their respective 2008 titles won in Queen's.

If Federer wins his sixth Wimbledon title and Nadal loses before the semi-finals, then Federer will regain his precious World No. 1 ATP title on the 6th of July.

Meanwhile, if the results run his way, current World No. 3 Andy Murray could go to No. 2 by winning Wimbledon.

C'MON!
Allez Federer!

malteser1 , 6/17/09 4:29 PM

Interesting stats Malty! What is going to HAPPEN?! LOL Go FED go!

sky , 6/17/09 5:31 PM

Analysis of the ATP rankings reveals that if Andy Murray wins over Rafa in the finals of Wimby, Andy will become #2 in the ranking, thereby relegating the ARROGANT ONE to 3#.

danny , 6/18/09 7:07 AM

w-o-w danny...you should be a mathmatician....just repeating the post that I posted 3 posts before? how about when fed wins wimby...he becomes no. 1........
so many different permutations don't you think? which is why this is gonna be an exciting tourny.....
love you dan.....xxx

malteser1 , 6/18/09 10:32 AM

With all your pretensions to being brilliant and highly educated, you cannot even see that I am being sarcastic by using your own post to reveal its absurdities.

danny...i make NO pretensions about myself..never have....am certainly NOT brilliant but thanks for your opinion there.......as for highly educated? i think that's debatable don't you? just because i am studying doesn't mean am highly educated....it's all about choice isn't it? if i choose to find out about the world and want to better myself then is that something that is up to me? I think so...you could do the same if you wanted...but you choose not to study...that's your choice danny.

and sometimes you know.......you talk about sarcasm in your post....and yet you couldn't see the sarcasm in mine? again...i think you are probably having a bad day right now...cos i haven't heard from you for a while and you've posted...what? twice on this thread? coming on all guns blazing.....gunning for malty...(**danny...(sobbing)...how could you?!**)........

and danny...i posted what was reported by ATP rankings site...it wasn't my individual post as such...i started off with 'some interesting stats'....if you look on the ATP website..this is what THEY have posted......(am NOT THAT clever dan!).....
peace and love to my cyber man *wink* *kiss*xx

C'MON
Allez Federer!
