    Raise your hand if you appreciate the gathering of the finest tennis talent in the world, as the top 30 players clash in Spain for the Mutua Madrileña Masters Madrid. The ATP tournament schedule may be drawing to a close, but the action in Madrid couldn't be hotter!

    With the weekend fast approaching, our sources are busier than a bunch of angry bees this week. Please join me, as we at Team DdV dish about the buzz taking place behind the scenes at El Recinto Ferial de la Casa de Campo.

    Novak Djokovic and ballgirls in Madrid Reality or rumour? Novak Djokovic, with the help of a loose-lipped member of the Madrid security staff, did his best to pick up a female member of a rival player's entourage.

    We were given this delicious bit of gossip from a trusted member of the UK media. Although the journalist said he was an eyewitness to the tête à tête during Djokovic's press junket, there is no proof that the Serbian sensation and the object of his curiosity ever sealed the deal.

    Richard Gasquet Reality or rumour? As far as Madrid tournament goers are concerned, Richard Gasquet's backhand tops the list as the most beautiful single shot in tennis.

    According to the source of our informal poll conducted in Madrid, the flashy Frenchman's backhand has cornered the market on aesthetic beauty.

    Rafael Nadal Reality or rumour? World #1, Rafael Nadal, had some choice words for the Hugo Boss model ballgirls. Some reports claim that the ticked-off, M4's top seed went so far as to shoot one of the comely young ladies his trademark "raised eyebrow," during Tuesday's opening round match against Latvia's Ernests Gulbis.

    Nadal is a calculated, measured, and deliberate player without question. He employs and requires a specific routine each time he steps onto a tennis court.

    While some of the girls may perform a bit more slowly and cautiously than the ATP's standard ballpeople, we saw no evidence that the superstar Spaniard directed a cross word toward any of member of their group on Tuesday.

    Madrid ballgirls Reality or rumour? David Ferrer hurled an expletive at the chair umpire during his loss against countryman, Feliciano López, after some of the house lights went out.

    Team DdV has never been fond of Valencia's most famous "boy in the box." Ferrer launched this deplorable verbal attack upon chair umpire Kerrilyn Cramer, who officiated the Spaniard's US Open match against Kei Nishikori of Japan:

    Normally, we hesitate to defend such a sexist, potty mouth like David Ferrer. However, other than a request to be granted a brief period of time to warmup, the surly Spaniard uttered nothing of note to chair umpire, Mohamed Lahyani, during the minor power outage on Wednesday.

    Fernando Verdasco Real or rumour? Fernando Verdasco has taken leave of his senses as he struggles with an addiction to hair care products.

    We have no idea what type of look the gorgeous Spaniard wants to pull off in this picture:

    The overly gelled faux-hawk, in combination with his gag-worthy green shirt has us covering our eyes in disgust. Unless Nando plans to moonlight as a member of Man U alongside the uber-metro, Cristiano Ronaldo, we pray that he retires this tragic look sooner than yesterday!

    Fabio Fognini Reality or rumour? Italy's Fabio Fognini was pelted with ice by an angry Madrid crowd, following a humiliating loss against Gael Monfils of France.

    Team DdV knew the decision to give Fognini an M4 wild card would ruffle more than a few feathers this week. Clearly unable to perform at a top-notch level, the unprepared Italian was no match for the talented Monfils.

    The disappointed crowd dispensed with a selection of boos, whistles, and hisses, but no reports of projectile ice have been confirmed.

    Special blind item: Reality or rumour? This Madrid entrant told a reporter that his appearance in the ATP's beefcake calendar has sent his off-court, extra-curricular activities into overdrive.

    RIDICULOUS!

    We heard about the comments made by the delusional, terminal top 50 a long time ago. The outrageous claims of women begging for dates and proposing marriage made us laugh. For some reason, they resurfaced again in Madrid, where beautiful women pepper the seats of El Recinto Ferial de la Casa de Campo.

Kait: so ture, have taken leave all this time rather disappointed with the handling of ed's ban or why it even came about in the first place. I am still there ! When you work it is difficult to often conect especially when you travel a lot.
I really don't like verdasco sense of style. He reminds me some IT girls with their banana hair. It is a typical european trend and it doesn't suit him cause he has too much hair.

Novack would have been in trouble all this year, I wish him a peaceful 2009 year :)
