YEAH BUT FEDERER TELLING ANYONE TO KEEP QUIET DOESN'T MEAN ANYTHING BECAUSE HE'S A TOSSER. SET A GOOD EXAMBLE IN BEHAVIOUR FIRST "THAN" TELL OTHERS OFF!
homos , 9/29/08 2:08 PM
lol homos..ofcourse federer is one of the most well-behaved players on tour..biased people like you wont see that..and federer told them to be quiet only for the reason tht he was being fair..djokovic's shot was not out..and federer had challenged the call for a replay or to give the point to djokovic..and novak himself wasnt complaining at all..still his camp was shouting(maybe they didnt notice or whtever) and that has often distracted him ..lol..homos..get a life bro...
janhavi , 9/29/08 2:19 PM
great blog..worth a thought
janhavi , 9/29/08 2:22 PM
Hilarious! Excellent blog. I suspect Djokovic will grow up very soon. In a hurry! He plays good tennis. Now ditch the fans who want him to behave like a football yob and take a look at the ones who love him for the sport. Gentlemen.
Kenny , 9/29/08 2:30 PM
His parents annoy the hell out of me too, but im wondering just how much control he has over them to tell them to you know shut up?? i bet he cant even if he wanted to.
interesting list i wasnt aware of most of them.
Britney , 9/29/08 3:15 PM
if somebody (like me),one year ago, told such things about djokovic,he or she would have been harshly criticized by most people.now,it's interesting to see how people turned their back off to novak.
sisterofnight12 , 9/29/08 4:22 PM
this is terrible!!! they are good parents to him, made his successes. SHAME for you to write this. :/
elle , 9/29/08 4:25 PM
the root cause of the waning fan support and popularity lies not only in Nole's more recent flippant remarks, but the behavior of his family in general.
his most serious concern right now isn't loss of form or injury, its his family! shame to see such talent weighed down by awful baggage, the familial kind...
this is why the article is spot on, kudos team DdV!!!
mLina , 9/29/08 4:37 PM
i love the idea of giving these two a beating in print. they have damaged nole's career and that dad of his needs to be banned from tournaments...
trixxyfest , 9/29/08 4:40 PM
do not see it this way, nobody can say they did not help novak get to a top of the atp.
elle , 9/29/08 4:43 PM
they have taken two steps forward and two steps back, every step of the way. you know, if they started his rise they're destroying it now. how many times this year have we seen them making bad headlines? it's unbelievable!
trixxyfest , 9/29/08 4:47 PM
biased view. mother, father both put lives on hold to support him. what more they are supposed to do?!?!?!
elle , 9/29/08 4:51 PM
i don't know... try to act like civilized adults? that would be a nice place to begin.
trixxyfest , 9/29/08 4:55 PM
fine, no more point for me to say a thing. you will not give the family any good will.
elle , 9/29/08 4:58 PM
as much as they should be credited for helping him rise in his profession, they should really start ditching the arrogant, over bearing monstrosity that their public image has become... THAT is what they are supposed to do, unless they want their talented kid to become the male jelena dokic...
i am all for family support, look at what that's done for the likes of Fed and Nadal, but the Djokovic family should learn the fine art of supporting their progeny from the sidelines and not go hogging it themselves through these unbecoming actions...
barring any changes in attitude and public relations by the family, they will ultimately prove to be Nole's undoing... too bad...the kid's got game!
mLina , 9/29/08 5:01 PM
Sure they've sacrificed a lot for their firstborn, but now they are hurting his reputation. I always loved Nole, but after seeing DdV's list I see why people have cooled to him lately.
Nole needs to get his head together.
Plus he's been seen mouthing obsenities during at least one match. He assumes no one can recognize his language. Wrong - o. He needs to clean up his act.
lyta1138 , 9/29/08 5:03 PM
where he mouthed obsenities? you mix him up with roddick, that never happen from novak.
elle , 9/29/08 5:09 PM
I'll wait along the sidelines today, looking up the word 'powderkeg' in the dictionary. LOL.
RocketQueen , 9/29/08 5:11 PM
damir and srdjan cannot be compared. please do not do so, damir is unstable. srdjan open up his mouth to say stupid things sometimes, but nothing like damir.
elle , 9/29/08 5:15 PM
I don't know about obscenities, but I believe Novak had some troubles in Miami this year. I'll try to locate a link for it.
RocketQueen , 9/29/08 5:16 PM
nothing to find. some make mistakes between passion for a game and bad manners. i know he never says obsenities. :D
elle , 9/29/08 5:24 PM
i heard he spit towards the crowd in miami.
trixxyfest , 9/29/08 5:29 PM
"I always had the big support, especially from my parents. My father, I think he always believed more in me than I did in myself.? that has a nice sound, i think.
elle , 9/29/08 5:29 PM
That item I didn't know about, I hope it isn't valid. Spitting is an crass thing to do. It's hard to tell with Novak lately, he seems to have lost his happy(ish) personality.
RocketQueen , 9/29/08 5:39 PM
i would never call him happy. he is more easily riled now, i think.------->pressure
trixxyfest , 9/29/08 5:45 PM
I agree, fame is not an easy journey for some in the beginning. He hasn't adjusted to it in good time.
RocketQueen , 9/29/08 5:50 PM
I saw the video on youtube, I'm trying to track it down. From the serbian speaking commenters, it sounds pretty bad. Can't repeat it here.
lyta1138 , 9/29/08 6:12 PM
great blog i can't stand the djoko parents!!
DejaBlue , 9/29/08 6:18 PM
Great blog!
I heard that the parents no longer own the restaurant, and now make their sons' careers their lifework. I can't help wonder if Novak's lessening of results (and retirements due to mysterious ailments) are partly the result of being the sole support of a family of five at age 20/21.
Not that that excuses any of the revolting behavior we've seen this year.
libby , 9/29/08 6:34 PM
Hi, finally found it on youtube,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EwcxHcvlpyM&feature=related. I guess he forgot people can lip read anywhere in the world. Couldn't get tinyurl to work. Sorry for the long link.
lyta1138 , 9/29/08 7:21 PM
lol wouldn't any parent be proud of that? out of line with a comment like that & so bad for him you can lip read.
DejaBlue , 9/29/08 7:37 PM
I saw a comment on the posted list at Youtube. LOL, until I read it I had no inkling of the meaning. Novak must know he is on camera all the time. Revolting indeed, as I see professional tennis need not be led that far astray. His comment was embarrassing and uncalled for.
RocketQueen , 9/29/08 8:27 PM
i wasn't surprised look at how his parents act! the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
DejaBlue , 9/29/08 9:04 PM
nobody say anything when marat breaks raquets or curses. so nole does that and he is made a villain. that is not a fair thing. :/
elle , 9/29/08 10:40 PM
None of that behavior is acceptable, but I gather the line is drawn in how it's done. Marat has never been known to direct his anger toward a crowd, and we've seen Novak do just that.
RocketQueen , 9/29/08 11:14 PM
You would NEVER EVER see Rafa or Roger or their families act like that.
mercedes20 , 9/29/08 11:40 PM
the families are respectful to others----->wimbledon finals
trixxyfest , 9/29/08 11:59 PM
Families don't need to be friends with everyone on the tour, but a little common courtesy is not unreasonable. Novak's parents have forgotten about that. The Federer and Nadal parents have not, thank the stars.
RocketQueen , 9/30/08 12:20 AM
those four parents are class & the djokos aren't. who else's dad got himself thrown out of a tournament. helloooooo srdjan!?!?!
DejaBlue , 9/30/08 12:30 AM
I also don't think Marat nor his family ever behaved that way towards the public.
We're all for enthusiasm and support (I'm sure all parents and families are proud of their children on tour) but there's always common courtesy to consider. Other players' teams manage to find the balance there, I don't see why they shouldn't be able to as well.
Big fan of Novak, though. Hoping for better results soon :-)
firefemme , 9/30/08 1:03 AM
marat & dinara have spirit but they are respectful. you can't say the same @ novak. i've heard bad things @ one of his brothers too.
DejaBlue , 9/30/08 1:44 AM
he is talented like nole, so people talk **** of him too. the family has poor things written of them in papers, you are angry too if it was you. :/
elle , 9/30/08 2:06 AM
hahahaha! i just knew that somehow safin's name was going to creep into this conversation.
servolova , 9/30/08 4:44 AM
Elle dearest. A spade is a spade. Djokovic et al are still learning the ropes. He's cute but no need to be a wrestler and your playing tennis. RocketQueen! Incendiary! Dynamite even! Ha ha!
Kenny , 9/30/08 5:00 AM
Powder keg! Even! Lol el oh el lol! Hilarity! Dani! Best site on the net dahlink!
Kenny , 9/30/08 5:05 AM
Civilised adults! Ak! Laughing so loud I almost swallowed my shoe! Too right trixxyfest!
Kenny , 9/30/08 5:15 AM
Hello there!
Thank you all very much for your kind words of support, they mean a great deal to me. :)
Welcome to the new people as well.
Always a pleasure to see you on this side of the fence, Ms. Murray. Thank you for sharing your expert opinion. What a pair Mom and Dad Djokovic are, and their son is quickly making friends and influencing people. *cough*

dani - are you okay?
servolova , 9/30/08 5:29 AM
Very well lova, thank you. Pick your winners this week!
I knew that a week could not pass without at least one mention of Safin's name. ;)
DdV , 9/30/08 5:37 AM
Hilarious! Dani specifies. Please. Park your audi by the volvo properly. No loud alarms. People are playing tennis! Me been around and i promise! Excellent blogger this dani is! Smirk! Roddick must be party ing. Hard. With hamilton.
Kenny , 9/30/08 5:38 AM
I feel sorry for the serbians and those who are fans of Nole.
How about an article about Federer's spoilt behaviour whenever something doesn't go his way? We have seen many examples that would make for a good blog - or is that not popular with the larger loyal fan base????!!!!
remi , 9/30/08 8:56 AM
lol remi..the extent to which you can be biased is amazing! federer's spoilt behaviour?????? lol lol lol..get a life remi...many examples??? lol lol lol...you're soooo perfect aren't you? geez..you have to bring federer's negative points in every blog you comment on...get a grip..your claims make no difference whtsoever..they're plainly irritating ...the blog is about djokovic.
janhavi , 9/30/08 9:48 AM
This blog is not about Nole's behaviour, it's about his parents. But even though they deserve criticism they get, it's unfair to Novak. He's not resposible for his parents' actions.
Tian , 9/30/08 9:57 AM
If you're getting so worked up all the time, perhaps it's YOU who should get a life...
Don't like someone always hitting on darling Fed? Well, that should give you an idea what some people on this website think whenever you jump on every single negative comment about your GOD roger! It's obvious it's you who really needs to get a grip.
Very pleased to see you've picked up some new words, like after someone explained what "lol" means, you've been using it to death. Congrats!
remi , 9/30/08 10:01 AM
yeah..sorry..about the parents..yeah well i do agree with you Tian
janhavi , 9/30/08 10:01 AM
lol remi..you make me laugh cant help..you seriously need to learn to read..i have a problem with people being biased......you have nothing substantial to talk about so you always come up with "federer is arrogant" in any and every blog and get mad if someone thinks its funny or says anything against your biased nature of commenting...anyway..the point it is -i agree iwth Tian..maybe given a little more time nole's parents will mellow down..i mean his grand slam victory was really special for serbia..obviously it must mean a lot to them...
janhavi , 9/30/08 10:09 AM
That's not your only problem.
remi , 9/30/08 10:15 AM
who cares..say what you want from now..hope that satisfies you and your ignorance...
janhavi , 9/30/08 10:20 AM
geez..i hate to launch personal attacks like this..and i apologise for that.. anyway i wonder djokovic himself is aware of all this though
janhavi , 9/30/08 10:25 AM
I WANT SOME MARAT SAFIN NEWS PLEEEEEEZE!!!!!!!!
Britney , 9/30/08 11:05 AM
Except few people over here, the rest of you have a serious problem, I'm wondering if you're OK with yourselves, talking about Novak and his parents is not allowed, who are all of you to make judgment about people you even don't know, I feel sick about you, don't have to support our Novak, but it's even forbidden for you to talk about him and his family like that, live him alone and give your miserable comments to your favorite ones like Federer, finally, you should get the fact, he's among the best player, and you can't do anything regarding that, but to hate him, Novak has such a big support and love from his own country, he doesn't need you and your useless comments, have impression you don't have anything else to do than to put your sick, ironical, bad, ugly comment over here, but I'm sorry, he's the best for us, and he'll stay like that forever, Nole is the tennis king, we adore him, and the rest of you 'tennis experts' don't have your own players to discuss, when you get one than make a comments. Novak forever
gordana , 9/30/08 11:12 AM
geez..gordana..not talking bad about novak or his family..sorry if you got offended.
janhavi , 9/30/08 11:17 AM
but seriously your comments contain more irony.and maybe you should act upon your words first..read everyone's posts..they're not exactly bad..
janhavi , 9/30/08 11:22 AM
It's like this: certainly people are being hard on his parents. And watch. Djokovic will ditch them soon. I remember a certain Williams also being told to style up. Dani simply has put the matter out there. It's clear now, even between us in here, that the Djokovic band wagon has become too shrill, and the parents are about to find out that Djokovic is not a kid. We hope. Nice shirtless photo dani. Nyum.
Kenny , 9/30/08 11:37 AM
janhavi, I've read all the posts, you don't have to remained me, as I said in my post, 'Except few people', you're not among them, cause you're always in critically mood toward to Novak, as I said 1000 times, we as a Novak's fans, don't care about all of you, just stay in belief, you simply don't like him, but he's playing his nice tennis and don't have time to waste, that's why I'm here to give him fully support and to 'fight' with all of you folks...
gordana , 9/30/08 12:20 PM
me? critical? lol
janhavi , 9/30/08 12:38 PM
calling people who disagree with you bias and ignorant, telling people they need to learn to read (no one's english can compare with yours obviously), to get a grip, comments have irony, tell people to get a life (when you clearly spend all your time on tennistalk arguing and starting trouble), never launch personal attacks because you hate to do that as you say - no, you are not critical at all. How do you say it...lol! Like that word don't you?
I'm looking forward to see what tediously dull, repetitive replies you'll make to this observation. Do you have an in-built sound detector to indicate when someone's made a comment offensive on Tennistalk to you and you run to your computer to reply and defend Roger and yourself?
remi , 9/30/08 1:07 PM
remi, my favorite, you're simply the best, I really like your comments, God blessed you, cheers
gordana , 9/30/08 2:57 PM
well all what you said applies more to you.wht are you doing here the whole day then? .i work so in between usually log on..you got a problem with that?..just like you cannot stop your nonsensical biased attitude i cannot stop saying the things i do..it works both ways.
janhavi , 9/30/08 4:37 PM
you have no business thinking of what i do..i already told you..say what you want from now..i dont call you ignorant because you disagree with me..you have nothing substantial to say so you will either taunt others or go ahead in every blog and sing "federer(bcoz you dont like him) is arrogant"..its you who's being immature..why i am here is none of your business and its you who's being offensive.it appears that you are allergic to fair discussions..obviously you have clearly not played the sport yourself..ask yourself wht you and gordana do all day..i can do whtever i want...god,i have never seen such a level of immaturity before.
janhavi , 9/30/08 4:46 PM
Grenade.
Kenny , 9/30/08 4:59 PM
As I don't care for the mother and father, it's never boring when they are the central topic. Controversial discussions will keep the game in the running. LOL.
RocketQueen , 9/30/08 5:29 PM
lol grenade 4sure but it's entertaining reading @ a day in the life of the djoko family & their crazy fans!!
DejaBlue , 9/30/08 5:47 PM
Sorry, but no one is doing character assassination of the Djokovic family, except themselves. They are acting poorly and it may affect the play of a talented guy, which would be a shame. Novack wasn't acting poorly himself until recently. I wonder what caused the change. I hope he gets his head straightened out as he's lounging on the beaches in Thailand.
lyta1138 , 9/30/08 6:42 PM
pls read again okay? there is plenty of this all over here and other boards of his family. if this is no "character assassination" like you say, then i do not know what is?!?!
elle , 9/30/08 8:33 PM
Srdjan and Dijana Djokovic have been a nuisance and a disgrace from day one. Their antics are downright harmful if you ask me. :x If they are on the end of some harsh words, you will understand if I don't feel sorry for either one of them.
Allez , 9/30/08 8:50 PM
gordana and others, ignore the simpleton! not worth your typing time.
jean , 10/1/08 2:22 AM
To be put simply - he is overrated and lacks manners and quality sportsmanship
BernieEliza , 10/1/08 3:08 AM
people are jealous of nole who have done nothing in life. real fans know and support him and the family always in the spite of haters. :D
elle , 10/1/08 3:14 AM
The truth is: Novak does lack manners and I am not going to coment on his parents, ali it takes is to watch one match where they are present and a person gets a good idea of what they are. I do not understand however why they always think that somehow everyone is againist Novak for whatever reason. If you take the US Open match that he played againist Federer in semi finals which happened right after that spectacle that he made after the match with Rodick I tought that audince was actualy very fair. Of course it was more receptive to Federer but again they were always going to be as he was a deffending champion and almost an underdog this year. However I remember sitting in the stands with my sister and we were both expecting the audince to boo his entrance to Arthur Ash stadium. As you all know it did not happened he was treated with respect and people were just interested in weather he can beat Roger that day or not. But what I would like to know is if perhaps the situation was reversed and Rodick said in the midle of Belgrade what Novak said in New York would the audiance reacted the same way or would Rodick be almost blown off the court with the boos and heated coments. So when you all think he is not treated fair you may wont to think a little bit more and just maybe think as a true tennis fan not someone who only idalizes one player regardles of how good you belive he is. Becouse one player is nothing without the others and please do not say it is pride and beliff, as you all know there are many players who have reasons to be proud of themselfs but there are not many who act like your Novak even on a bed day.
brenda , 10/1/08 3:44 AM
I read there are some problems in novak's camp recently. I hope he can solve them and defend his AO title. Some don't like Novak's behaviour, others do not like Federer's arrogance (brace yourself for pshyco to jump at this comment!), and some don't like Rafa to pick his pants. Every fan has problems with something except the outrageously psychotic who just has problems! I like Novak's game, don't care about the family, I can overlook their human shortcomings just like some blind fans can overlook their arrogant one's behaviour. What does that make us all...blind fans in different respects? Jelena also had daddy problems at her matches, than stopped talking to him and Williams also similar. Everyone is biased, except of course jahanvi who is always objective, perfect and fair.
homos , 10/1/08 5:34 AM
I'm sorry, but my English is not as good as someone's here, help me and translate the 'words' such as: lol, geez, extc, of course, I'm biased and 'crazy' fan so what, that's my business, I feel sick about some people here, like Brenda, she's very VIP person, her presence at the US open is must, so without her, no matches, pls. give me a break, even if you were there, you must have been blind, you didn't see anything, anyway you don't have to mention that whenever you post your 'comment', I have to admit, I'm having fun to read someone's comment, but there are too many Nole's 'crazy' fans, which is great, what to tell you folks, Novak is big heart, that's the fact, and many very well known people recognize that, except very few, finally, there are too many nice tennis players but somehow, you focused yourselves on Novak, that's the main fact, it means, he's worthy, that's my personal satisfaction, Novak foreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeever
gordana , 10/1/08 9:28 AM
Hilarious. By the way English is not a determining factor. Making sense occurs in any language. And Djokovic plays good tennis. When free of fanatic behaviour. I still think he should take his shirt off more often, and distract his parents with a new house. Get on with it.
Kenny , 10/1/08 11:17 AM
My dear Gordana I do not belive that I am in any way a VIP person as a metter a fact this was the first time that I attended a Grand Slam event in my life and I hope that I will have an opportunity to do so again as the experiance is unbelivable. However the difference between me and some people is that I only coment on what I see and I am not blindly devoted to any particular player but to sport itself. As I said you can belive that Novak is being treated unfair but I think you are wrong and becouse of the fact that he has potential as a player people were willing to give him a chance to prove himself and perhps mature as a person. I do hope that he does it but unfortunatly the time is running out. Also maybe you can answer my question from previus post since you do live in Novaks native country so please enlighten me.
I belive that Rodick would not have been treated nearly as fair in Serbia as Novak was in the States after trashing the crowd favorite in the middle of his native country. But again I will never know for sure becouse I do not live in Serbia and do not have first hand experiance but you do so please indulge my curiosity!
brenda , 10/1/08 12:18 PM
brenda, you'll have a chance to come in Serbia very soon, as a matter of fact, Nole's Academy wiil be open next year for his 22nd birthday, with God help, everybody will have opportunity to feel Serbian hospitality, worm welcome, and nice people who're supporting our national icon all the time, however, like everywhere, there are people who don't know how to behave themselves, but generally speaking, all who'd be interesting to come will find out how we treat the guests even Rodick, but we don't let anyone to insult out player, Novak, himself will enhance his self-control, confidence, and power, but he'll stay very proud person in a sense, he won't let anybody to talk about his injuries like jokes, all of you should remember, he's very good player, but could be very unpleasant if someone talk about him badly, we're simply like that, but recognizing the others of course, so Brenda, you're welcome, in spite of fact, it won't be US open, you can come...
gordana , 10/1/08 12:51 PM
We have to understand that they are PARENTS... they're proud of their son! Maybe they are NOT conscious of their actions and this kind of blog will open their eyes to be AWARE of its effects to Novak's carrer.
We have our own differences, the way we show our affection differs as well... Novak, Rafa, Murray are Still practically "teens" and are still under their parents' wings. BUT, they also have the responsibility to their fans and can make some "suggestions" to their parents to back off if it's already making negative effects to their careers.
agf25agf , 10/1/08 2:14 PM
Psycho parents.
milivice , 10/1/08 3:02 PM
Psycho posters.
servolova , 10/1/08 3:38 PM
I love Nole, I think he is very talented. I just hope he grows up a little. A year ago he was fun, relaxed, and seemed well liked, even by those players who weren't 100% on board with his impersonations (his one of Sharapova was my favorite). Now he is tense, easily offended and easily irritated. I hope he can turn around what ever is going wrong.
lyta1138 , 10/1/08 4:25 PM
Nole's a great guy. He is a great player, has great sense of humor, is humble, honest, applauds his opponents on good points, is genuinely sorry when his ball strikes the ball girl, takes part in charities, gives to children of Kosovo... It's unbelievable what media can do, how it can make you and then break you. And people will believe. Halftruths like the article above. Shame.
danica , 10/2/08 3:19 AM
Great blog Dani - this needed to be out out there. What a year for Novak, starting out on such a high at the AO and now losing to Tsonga. He is very easily irritated these days and also seems tired. He is learning that life in the spotlight is not always so wonderful. Hopefully he can turn things around in 09 - nix the parents.
tenisbebe , 10/2/08 5:08 AM
He's also kinda cute. In a skinny sort of way. Nice Afro. Now if we can just get past his parents, we might find a man.
Kenny , 10/2/08 10:22 AM
Just ignore the parents and concentrate on the man. :)
I hope he settles whatever may be unsettling him. He seems a little different lately. I agree with agf25agf. I think we sometimes forget they are actually still very young and parents are being parents - they just happen to be positioned in front of a tv camera. That last reply from Nole sounds a bit sad.
tenstar , 10/2/08 5:17 PM
No i agree ten star. The parents are too excited. Wait. But you see Djokovic still has to play wimbledon. Again.
Kenny , 10/3/08 1:05 AM
prob with Djok is hes arrongant, confident, likes to make jokes, and his parentrs are complete utter muppets... but Djok cares what people think of him! Hes pretty sensitive! If he shut his parents up and maybe aplogised for their behaviour I am sure alot of people would respect him again.
In the meantime its just great to see Rog beating him!!!
kaitepai , 10/3/08 1:44 AM
I do like Nole and I like his game. I think deep down he's a decent bloke. I don't like seeing him the way he is lately. If things really are unsettled in his camp, it will affect him and if that's what's happening, I really hope he can resolve it out soon. I agree the parents are excited but I think agf25agf makes a good point and sums it up well.
tenstar , 10/3/08 5:03 AM
Djok HAS apologised more than once for his behaviour in the past.

Novak is young yet, give him a chance to break away from his lunatic parents. I have faith in a turnaround for him as he gets older. Call me optimistic this time, but I see him making it.:)

Great blog again, Dani. The mistake that Djokovic makes is in thinking that he the crowds don't cheer for him because he doesn't do impressions anymore. This is simply not the case. For the most part, you need to GIVE people a reason not to cheer for you, which he has done without with absolute precision this year.
