I'm still leaning towards Mario. I don't think Marcos was in Cincy, but I know Mario was there. I almost ran into him (literally). I was going down the hallway in the hotel, and he was right in front of me. I was surprised to see him, because I knew he'd withdrawn from the tourney and I assumed he'd left town by then.

He looked so tall and thin. I don't know if he's always that thin, or if it was due to his illness. I read he had tests done while there. At first they thought it was the mono again, but supposedly it was some other kind of virus. If it is him and he's a player (and I don't mean tennis), I hope he's careful! Maybe that's how he got mono in the first place.

Can't be Baggy, he hasn't been at any tournaments in ages.

he did talk to me. :) The kids were "hanging around" where the players enter, and up walks Guga carrying his racquet bag. So these two boys say in loudest voices EVER "Who's THAT?" "I dunno, but he has racquets, he must be a player..." Guga was laughing as he signed the autographs, then he said "They did not know me". I told him he was very sweet to sign them. Sigh. Gosh, I love Guga. :)

Yeah, there's something about Guga that just makes you wanna smile when he smiles. Seeing that pic above just reminded me that I saw them play doubles together down in Miami this year. They were playing against Lopez and Verdasco. A lot of hotness on court at the same time! Funny, Verdasco arrived at the court a lot later than everyone else. The crowd started booing him (jokingly) when he finally showed up. Lopez and even the chair ump laughed, and Fernando just smiled like he was embarrassed.

DejaBlue, in addition to Mario and Nico I saw at the hotel Rafa, Clement, Gasquet, Ginepri, Acasuso, Jose Higueras, Mats Wilander, Bjorkman, Bhupathi, Damm. I remember seeing Dima and PHM also, although I can't recall if that was this year or last year. Last year I stayed at the hotel and saw a lot more people. This year I just went over a couple times to have dinner/drinks with a friend who was staying there. Who knows, maybe I was there when Dani did her interview with the Cincy insider (now I wish I'd paid more attention!). The bar was kinda dead compared to last year.

Looks-wise, the only person I remember is Robby. He needs a good haircut, or hairstyle, or something! With his cap off it looks terrible. And unfortunately his hairline is kind of receding. A pity, as otherwise I think he's a pretty good-looking guy.

What a sweet story Cheryl! Thank you for sharing it. Guga is that kind of man who you know isn't putting on an act. His kindness was obvious, and now you have confirmed it. You can tell a lot by how people treat little kids. I love Guga more now. :)

Janko Tipsarevic moves me to vomit. I have intense dislike for Nicolas Kiefer as well. I haven't seen him in quite awhile, but the word "prick" applies in his case.

No! i was saying his hair would be so outta control if he were stranded on a deserted island that for upkeep dreds would be more efficient. nobody looks good in dreds. i would put him on a nice skin care regimen. fix his teeth. get him a new hair do. get him some color. wax the brows. he actually could be smoking hot but he needs some tweaking.

Kiefer strikes me as being arrogant. I don't really like him, but he makes me giggle every time I watch him play. He's so quirky, tapping the lines and stuff. Even though I don't like him, I'm glad he's around because he's different.

Pity to hear that about Janko. He's actually quite cute. He looked like a space alien on court in Cincy, with his shades and nosepiece and yellow and black outfit. Maybe more like a bee. Oh well, good to know who to stay away from.

About Ancic not being there - well he was :) : He withdrew after the tournament had started, he was even included in the order of play as far as I remember. So he did not play there - true, but that doesn't mean he did not come to Cincy.

no offense but 11 is close enough. mentioned among one person's account too. there are lots of people who went to cincy. i smart enough to not assume one source gave all of the information, lol.

It cannot possibly be Verdasco because he jokes about being top 10 long ago but Verdasco is at his career high now. The Cincy insider tells about the rumor with Safin, and DdV asks about a specific rumor she heard from a Cincy insider, so it has to be Marat.

I have seen Safin in person, spoken to him, shared a small joke with him. He is not a big thrill to me, there are other players that are more interesting and more attractive. He is enormously talented, and its a shame that his career was never what it could have been. As smart as Safin his, I do not understand why his fans are so absolutely insane about him. I don't understand why anyone is insane about any tennis player, they are just guys, really no different from the guys on your street.

You like him because he's a famous pretty rich boy but since you don't want to feel like a superficial gold digger (wow, no offense!), you just pretend that he's "talented, funny, smart". You WANT him to be talented, funny and smart and ... voila... he IS. Selective attention.
Example 1: You learn a new word. "Ficticious", for instance. All of a sudden, you hear and read it everywhere.
Example 2: You want to think that a certain tennis player is smart. All of a sudden, he says wonderful, sensitive, uber-intelligent things and his angelic voice delivers words of wisdom.
Selective attention. You see, hear, smell, taste whatever it is you want to see, hear,... You get the gist.

Let's face it. He's a pretty rich boy of average intelligence with an average sense of humor who can hold a tennis racket.

But let's be honest. He is incredibly beautiful, almost perfect, and it's so tempting to ignore his shortcomings. The money and fame help but aren't the decisive factos.
