Last time I left you, we were in the Marriott Northeast lounge, chatting with our good friend, Mr. CSI, aka Cincy Staff Insider, as he answered my questions, and talked about his time spent working behind the scenes at the Masters Series event.. Please join me for part two of the interview, right now...
DdV= Dani DeVine
CSI= Cincy Staff Insider
DdV: Time for a little game of word association.
CSI: If we're doing that, I want to switch to Blue Label.
***For anyone unfamiliar with the name, CSI is talking about Johnny Walker, Blue Label Scotch Whiskey. I didn't bother to ask if the bar had it on hand. At a going rate of $75 (USD) per shot, unless he was prepared to show me a naked picture of Marat Safin, I wasn't paying!
DdV: (Laughing) Anyway, moving on. When I give you a player's name, you say the first word that comes to mind, agreed?
CSI: Agreed, go for it.
DdV: Federer.
CSI: Classy.
DdV: Nadal.
CSI: Rock Star.
DdV: Youzhny.
CSI: (Laughing) Crazy.
DdV: Kiefer.
CSI: ****
DdV: Djokovic.
CSI: Entertainer.
DdV: Ferrer.
CSI: Weird.
DdV: Care to explain about Ferrer?
CSI: On the record? No, I do not. (Laughs)
DdV: Hewitt.
CSI: Another ****.
DdV: Safin.
CSI: Legend.
DdV: Nalbandian.
CSI: Crisco.
***Again, for anyone unfamiliar with the name, CSI is talking about a brand of vegetable shortening, commonly sold in the US.
DdV: Ginepri.
CSI: Einstein.
DdV: Robredo.
CSI: Who? (Laughs)
DdV: Lopez.
CSI: Lip gloss.
Dani says: I have no idea why CSI picked that one, I just wrote down his answers, exactly as they were given. ;)
DdV: Tipsarevic.
CSI: Psycho. (Laughs)
DdV: Gonzalez.
CSI: Music.
DdV: Sorry? I don't understand that one.
CSI: (Laughs) Sure. Gonzo and his team are always singing, sometimes back and forth to each other. Nobody else understands the words, but they are all a lot of fun to be around.
DdV: Clement..
CSI: (Laughs) Troll.
Stay tuned for part three, where our friend CSI talks about his personal favourite Cincy moments, including the infamous, post Aussie Open continuation of Hewitt vs. Chela/Coria, in 2005.
Until next time!
Kisses,

Both my source and BE are making me spring for Blue Label?! Poor House, here I come. DONATIONS, please. Send monetary donations to savebrokeDdV@tennistalk.com. ;p
Hewitt and Coria had few friends on tour, that's for sure. Imaginary sock puppet, LOL.
DdV , 7/31/08 5:39 AM
love the idea of safin as a legend..if only he could elaborate why :)
ballgirl , 7/31/08 4:25 PM
You should have seen the look on his face when he said it, BG. I say it was a little bit of hero worship going on with Safin. That has happened a lot, among the guys I've talked to.
Next time, I'll try to find the girls who might be willing to confirm that "legend" label for me. ;)
DdV , 7/31/08 5:07 PM
@ballgirl: i was just coming in here to type just that! you took the words right out of my mouth.
keep it coming Dani! i'll donate to your fund anyday...ha ha!
servolova , 7/31/08 6:48 PM
Donations! LOL, thank you Lova, you rule. :)
BTW, the last part of the interview is finished, and should be posted soon. CSI wasn't done w/ Marat- he claims that Marat hooked up with a prostitute in Cincy.
Not a chance I believe that, but I'll ask around.
DdV , 7/31/08 7:33 PM
servolova is staring blankly at the screen with her mouth agape
servolova , 7/31/08 8:25 PM
Lol! when's part three? :)
ballgirl , 7/31/08 10:01 PM
Read about prostitute and marat on Menstennisforums, Talktennis and just now even on .... Tursunov's homepage!!!!!!!!!!!!
she is said to have been nasty and gross.
carmel , 7/31/08 10:54 PM
I think with the shock of Federer's loss, the webmasters are still recovering, BG. It's been ready to go for a while, so hopefully it will be posted soon.
LOL @ Lova and her mouth agape. ;)
DdV , 8/1/08 12:27 AM
Hi Carmel- that story is getting around like crazy.
DdV , 8/1/08 12:28 AM
isn't prostitution illegal in Ohio? better be careful what you write... don't get yourself into trouble.
carmel , 8/1/08 12:30 AM
Let's tackle Hooker Central, right now- Here is what I have from this afternoon:
1) Half of the people I asked say she was a pro, and it happened. The other half say there is no truth to it, and they didn't see anything.
2) I find this hard to swallow for a couple of reasons- A) unless he went downtown, it is not likely that any working girl is trolling Mason, and B) if he were in dire need of company, Club Deja Vu in Cincy, is about 20 minutes from where he was staying. If he wanted to, he could have had someone drive him there, and hooked up with one of their dancers for free.
3) Just as the driver in Toronto said, Marat has had "friends" all over the place for years. She could have been one of those girls that he knows from his travels.
Until a reliable source comes out and says, YES, Safin was with a hooker, it's just a rumour. ;)
DdV , 8/1/08 12:34 AM
Exactly- it is, but someone can still pay for time and companionship, with nothing else involved, and STILL be called a you-know-what. I don't believe any of that happened, Carmel. People like to up the ante with that type of thing. Safin isn't stupid. Popular, but not stupid.
DdV , 8/1/08 12:37 AM
Moving away from the whole Safin-prostitute discussion for a moment - any more news on the whole Nadal-Haas thing, Dani? Assuming it was Haas you were referring to before - has it all blown over or is it coming to a head tonight in Cincy?
gauloises , 8/1/08 1:33 AM
Oh and I love the blog ...
gauloises , 8/1/08 1:35 AM
Thank you for your time and kind words, Gauloises. Welcome. :)
No bad blood between Rafa and Tommy that I saw tonight. The contact at the net, after the match seemed sincere. If you meant static circa 2005, I think that's over. I haven't heard anything to the contrary.
The one who started talking smack about Rafa earlier this year? A certain Russian crab ass, who had initially whined to the press, in Rotterdam, about how the journalists talk about Nadal like he's god. Typical sour grapes.
My Indy source had indicated that the trash talking was going strong there as well. I didn't see the two together at all here in Cincy, so I'm not sure where it stands now.
DdV , 8/1/08 4:34 AM
I saw Safin's girl in Cincy and by the looks of her, he did not need a prostitute.
She was nothing, however, compared to that of Moya.
RickyDimon , 8/1/08 5:03 AM
DdV, did we get credentials for Washington D.C.???
RickyDimon , 8/1/08 5:03 AM
RD! Glad you stopped by, I know your schedule is jammed this week. Your website is stellar, btw. Wow... :)
Carolina Cerezuela. Ironic that you'd mention her- she, Stacey Gardner, Brooklyn Decker, Simona Cretu, and Maria José Suarez are competing for LA's W(ives) A(nd) G(irlfriend) title, next week in LA.
If I need a vote to break a potential tie, I'm calling you. :)
Interesting development for DC on my end- let's talk about that one by email.
DdV , 8/1/08 5:21 AM
Thank you for the confirmation about Safin, RD. The whole story seemed ridiculous when I heard it.
DdV , 8/1/08 5:24 AM
You are TEASING us... emailing each other with goss and information....TEASING US!!!
Can't wait for part 3 :)
BernieEliza , 8/1/08 5:32 AM
I hope it shows up soon, BE. No intentional yanking of chains here, I swear. I would never do that to an Aussie chick. :)
DdV , 8/1/08 5:41 AM
what's your e-mail address!?!?!?!
RickyDimon , 8/1/08 5:41 AM
nevermind, i see it
RickyDimon , 8/1/08 5:44 AM
Answered, RD.
DdV , 8/1/08 5:47 AM
Talk tennis? Do you mean the Tennis Warehouse forums?
fangirl , 8/1/08 6:03 AM
My girlfirend told me about this blog and it is everything she hyped it up to be. Great job! As the name suggests, I love everything Safin so please keep the "dirt" coming.
Can I get more info on the girlfriend, hooker, whatever, etc.
Thanks!
theoriginalsafinette , 8/1/08 6:11 AM
Hey OG Safinette! Thank you very much for your comment. It never fails- Safin supporters are literally, like, the nicest people ever. Hottest fan base too, imo. :)
No truth to the scandalous reports in Cincy. She was just a "friend" of his. He'll be in LA next week, so whatever I find out, you know I'll share with you.
DdV , 8/1/08 6:24 AM
BE, this is for you, while we wait for Part 3 to be posted. This was brought to my attention, and I thought I'd share it. I thought you could use a good laugh, at my expense. This allegedly comes from a tour player's OFFICIAL website. Enjoy the low-rent comedy. ;)

This first post made my mother laugh when I showed her. Nicely done.

"I went to Tijuana a while ago to enjoy the fine theater scene. Dani DeVine was the co-star in an excellent performance starring a donkey.
After she robbed an old lady outside the "theater" to support her heroin habit, I had a chance to talk to her. She said she would soon quite her show with the donkey and get a less respectable job as an internet gossip monger that tells tales of players chasing tail. My sources tell me that she remains close with the donkey and hopes to return to her old job soon."

OH MY GOD!!! Do tennis players HOOK UP with GIRLS??? I thought they're not allowed to!? Do you think anyone of them EVER had SEX with one of those girls??? Where was I when that happened??? I won't stop crying now, I'm so disappointed.
Dani says: Hmm. The above poster's delivery seems awfully familiar. Regardless, as an undesirable, un****able spinster, I must go on record and say that I completely disapprove of all ATP-related sexual activity. It's utterly shameful.
DUDE, read my bio again. If you think I have one objection to what these guys do, your brain isn't working. They could redo Sodom and Gomorrah for all I care.
DdV , 8/1/08 6:46 AM
Safin's girl... it just seems everybody who saw her thought she was a hooker. She must definitely have looked like one.
carmel , 8/1/08 7:05 AM
DdV - hehehe! Top Stuff... If only I had applied for the blogger job first!
In fact I was in the bottl-o (Aussie term for Liqour store - we add 'o' to everything - Really classy and not bogan at all ... Not!) today at lunch picking up something nice for tonight (TGIF) and I saw the Blue label bottle going for AU$257... I think our dollars are much the same at the moment... Perhaps next pay day I will pick one up.
No wonder you couldn't afford the shot of blue with that "habit"... Funny post indeed!!
BernieEliza , 8/1/08 7:12 AM
In all honesty I can't pick up the bottle after pay day. I have just finished working out my budget to go down to AO-09 and that is where my dosh and leave days are going to. Tickets are on sale soon and I can't wait :) Something tells me the "legendary" Safin would have a few "friends" he can call down in Melbourne too.
BernieEliza , 8/1/08 7:15 AM
carmel - safin's girl did look like one
Moya's though, she was just SMOKING HOT in a classy way
RickyDimon , 8/1/08 7:35 AM
RickyDimon - Is that a classy "I don't let meals stay in my stomach" kind of way?
That is very mean of me. Apologies to the dear lass...
I've seen Moya play twice... he is quite fit... a good looking lass would certainly be an understandable requirement for someone who works as hard as him!
BernieEliza , 8/1/08 7:52 AM
BE - no apologies needed, as you were simply asking a question. And the good news is the answer is NO!
RickyDimon , 8/1/08 3:35 PM
Nice to hear of your OZ plans, BE, good for you. I have heard the cost of the whole show can be a little steep, so no Blue Label for you until after it's over! :)

hehehe! I'm terrible I would have gone for the shot of blue! I'm not surprised by the Hewitt comment. As an Aussie chick I find him... embarrassing. Does he really need to have conversations with an imaginary sock puppet when he plays??
