I just got back from Djokovic’s post-match presser. I have to say, I sympathize with players who have to come into a room full of journalists and talk about why they just lost. It seems a little…..unkind, I guess. Anyway, Novak was not very happy (understandably so) and he seemed to indicate that he might not come out swinging against Nadal.
And somewhere in the O2 arena, the Nadal clan just got a lot more optimistic. I’m headed down to watch him practice in a few minutes. I like doing this because of the way Rafa practices. He doesn’t so much have a light hit as he wages war on his tennis balls. It’s just fun to watch.
I spent the morning at the Tower of London. It was immensely interesting – even the journey TO the Tower of London was interesting. This is because I was nearly run over. TWICE… once by a bus and once by a plain old car (I think it was a Volkswagen). I could rail on the injustices of the UK choosing, for reasons only the Almighty can understand, to drive on the left side of the street. But in reality, it’s just user error. Many of the streets even have giant letters painted on the crosswalk that read “LOOK RIGHT” – but that didn’t stop me. No sir. Or ma’am. I walked right out into on-coming traffic. Fortunately those drivers were more alert than I.
Back to the Tower. Murders, beheadings and the Crown Jewels. What more could you ask for? I’m tempted to continue on in my quest for the macabre and book a “Jack the Ripper” tour. We’ll see.

Understandbly so (re: grumpy)! Nole IS tired and evidently so especially during that second set when he just ran out of steam. I still hope he will put up a fight against Rafa. Those two are always fantastic when they play and I hope neither will have the "heck care" spirit.
Cheryl, gotta be careful and watch out for the traffic. Enjoy your grimly delightful tours :)

Ha ha Cheryl the traffic thing always happens to me when I'm in Britain ... and I grew up there. I guess I learnt to drive, though, here in North America and to me, driving on the left side of the road seems like a suicidal urge, (somehow it freaks me out more if I'm in a passenger seat rather than a pedestrian though). Please keep safe!!
How was the practice?

nole will be fine. near season's end, most top players are tired. he needs a rest in the very short off season than back to melbourne. no more racket changes please nole!

Like Paris-Bercy, the WTF is orchestrated to squeeze every last dollar out of tennis - - usually at the expense of the players.
Hence the lunatic scheduling dictated by TV resulting in key matches being played into the early hours of the morning when most of the paying public had to leave before the end to catch the last train, bus or boat or risk being stranded in the boon docks for the night. The weary players then have to fulfill media obligations before attending to their needs (physio, food etc) and finally dragging themselves back to their hotel for some much needed sleep.
Scheduling the evening session WFT Doubles matches after the Singles would solve this problem but would result in lower prime-time TV viewing figures.
You can argue the players get their share of the TV honey pot so dont mind losing a bit of sleep sometimes, or having to play when they are completely knackered!
Maybe I am suffering from fatigue watching too many matches, but as a tennis fan I feel cheated by these autumn tournaments - watching exhausted players struggling to reach the end of the season, hobbled by injuries and playing way below their best or as often happens putting in a very desultory performance.
