  • Nadal's said it 100 times

    2009-11-23 19:03:21

I’m always interested in the press conferences of the players that lose their matches, because when the chips are down, that’s when the real player comes out (for reference, watch a Roddick interview sometime). I bring this up largely because I just left the Nadal press conference and several times he pulled out the old “I’ve said this 100 times” preface. It sounds testy, doesn’t it? The thing is that it doesn’t actually come out that way when he says it. I think he must have a gift, because even when he scolds, he does it politely.

I am going to be updating my blog more like a Twitter account. Check back in a bit for more tidbits.

Rafa is so sweet, he doesn't do anger.

What's even more extraordinary is that he probably isn't exaggerating.
Cheryl these reports are so great ... thanks. I really liked Rickey's live blog, too.

I love watching his pressers. You get to catch all the nuances, get to see his adorabley expressive facial experssions and hear the tone of his voice. I loved how he told the reporter "Okay, I repeat." after the reporter asked a question he already answered. I can totally picture him being calm, patient and accomadating. Plus, when he made that little joke about British weather, I'm sure he had a glint in his eyes.

I enjoy reading the transcripts too, especially when they aren't edited and his grammar smoothed out and corrected. :) Thanks a lot for all your blog posts so far.

Rafa makes 'grumpy' sweet. He's just a Honey. :3

man its sad to see rafa like this. being reduced to explaining to journalists whether he can ever beat that talenless toad soderling ever again.

i think nadal has officially hit absolute rock bottom in his career.
i guess the only way from here is up.

i think we all want to see the rafa of old return asap, but its increasingly becoming a fading light.
rafas career is like a candle in the wind, the candle is barely staying lit.
its a sad sight indeed.
rafa was my favourite player by far a while ago for a long time. but its very difficult to support him when he plays such defensive tennis like he played against davydenko in the shagnhai final a few weeks back.
its like the harder he tries, the worse he gets.
its a very sad and depressing sight.

Don't worry Nothing, when you see attacking's post, just skip. We are used to all his 'usual' posts. Don't let that frustrate you, which is what he is trying to do.

luckystar , 11/24/09 11:23 AM

Nothing: you can always recognise in advance when it's an atr post - he always uses the same formatting - so as Lucky says, just scroll down quickly and dont waste time reading the stupid jibes. He gets off on trying to wind up people. Sad, I know, but each to is own.

As a Rafa fan, I can see where attackingtennisrulez is coming from. It's frustrating to see Rafa sink into the depths of mediocrity when we have seen some much greatness before. The Spaniards say "Este no es mi Rafa, que me lo han cambiado". Hoping that some body snatcher is responsible for this.
The Rafa of 2008's RR and that unforgettable Wimbledon final has been a no-show for a while now. He had been constantly improving, on clay (if possible) and also on grass and hard courts. But then the knees gave in and his personal life went from fairy tale to reality, so fast he was left like a proverbial Rocky Balboa afraid to trade punches with Clubber (yes, I'm dating myself here, no biggie).
Will Rafa, like the latter fictional sports idol, regain his confidence and come out swinging soon? It took Rocky to go back to his roots and back to basics... It's the same with Rafa. First things first: Ditch the long sleeves and golf pants. Then start kicking arse again and go for all or nothing without fear. That's the Rafa we all miss, and we hope to see back soon.
